It was done with a remote so timing wasn't the hard part choosing the shot out of many was

I have a remote for my camera, so I can fire it off any time I want. I set the scene and focus, and then was picking the cherry out of the glass and dropping it back it taking about 40 pictures.
With dlsr is really not hard to snap the picture at perfect time because there is no shutter lag. When you hit it - it goes off.
