June 20th, 2008As I drove into Killarney for the summer this year, I met up with a couple of black bears along the highway. This one posed for a few photos for a short while before sauntering off into the bush.
I painted this piece from one of the photos I took: [link]
Anyways, I thought this looked like a mighty happy bear, so I titled it The Happiest Bear Ever! XD

Great painting, and I didn't realize you had been there all summer! I may have met you, I was at the Killarney Mountain Lodge from May to the end of August, like I mentioned working as a guide. Very cool, and what a small world!

Heh heh, yeah I was working at the park from mid-June to mid-September. I may have met you. I was at a couple of the parties held by the outfitters and the park staff - don't know if you attended as well. I know that mountain lodge staff were present at the Pirate Party on Canada Day, and at Mike's farewell party in mid-August.

Very cool, I was at the Pirate Party, I may even have a picture of you and not know it, eventually (sometime after december probably) I'll get around to posting them all on facebook, or I could just email them or something. What a small world!
Myself and my boyfriend Graeme will probably end up back at the lodge too, I'll have to drop by the park/first party to say hello.

I checked out your flickr gallery, you take great pictures! So many familiar places makes me miss the area all that much more.

I hope I can be back in Killarney next summer, but right now the future is a little uncertain. =/

Yeah, what a mess that was. I don't know enough details to condemn anyone, but I'd like to think it was just a combo of too much drinking and some poor judgement. He was a good guy whenever we worked together.
Aaaaanyhoo, hope things work out for you, and if you can't make it to Killarney then I guess I'll just have to keep making up a pirate-y personality.

Very cool! I've been here at the lodge since the 10th, not a whole lot going on though. Went in and checked out one of your paintings at George Lake, pretty cool to see it 'in real life'.

Well, I'll be Assistant Clerk this summer, and hopefully I can participate in the Killarney art show. I'll have some prints, postcards and other originals up for sale and display there.
