NOT spoilers, just my hc:Lumine(before turning into Abyss Princess) was the one, who made Scara to give people a second chance. After getting gnosis, wanted to take revenge on her for lying and for leaving him, but she was no longer the one he knew.
For the same reason, he hates Aether, because he looks so much like that traitor, but still joins him later to help him return the former Lumine.
