The only flipping animation I got to do this past week at Summer Studio because my teacher wouldn't let me just do a bunch of pencil tests LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. -___-
I was going to add a background and shade it, but it ended up being too inconsistent, so I didn't.
They have light boxes here. I tore those things up doing frames for this by hand and then doing pencil tests and stuff. My teacher made it more complicated than it needed to be. I did this in photoshop instead of flash because flash is hard. And stupid. Or maybe it was just the teacher. He was annoying but nice.
Well, drawing it itself was hard. Turning of the head as well as speaking is a pain in the butt to draw!! I had to over exaggerate my mouth movements and stuff. It was fun though, I'm proud of it.
I want a light box. Happy summer.

Haha I find this nifty! I was going to comment on the choppiness, but if the original file is so much more fluid I'll just work with I see so far.
Yes indeed the process for mouth movements PLUS body movements makes the whole ordeal a PAIN -- which is why I can only bow down to anyone who can even try and come out with something grand in animation. I can wait to see what you do with elements like rain or wind involved! It will be truly amazing! I will mention that the neck is acting oddly different between certain frames (it seems to be moderate, grow thick, grow skinny, and then get moderate again). That's my ONLY honest critique on this, but even that doesn't keep this from looking so uber awesome. I commend your talent!

No problem! The collar came out great to me, so I only noticed the neck by staring at the animation segments A LOT. Trust me. It's hardly that noticable to me.

yay I managed to fix it well, except the neck...I quit on this, I didn't want to work on it anymore after I spent 9 hours on it. Animation is soooo much work, it's actually annoying. A couple years ago I didn't think I wanted to get into animation because I never liked flash, but once I got to do the pencil animation, I loved it, no matter how repetitive it is. I really wish we had worked on more of the pre-production stuff though, like storyboarding and scripting. I really like storyboarding...

Well, I "storyboard" my comic, but i just call them thumbnails. Ever since I started scripting then storyboarding, THEN drawing, it's all gotten much better, much smoother. I usually just scrap them since they're for my ref more than others and there's four thumbnail pages per page I post o.O
