Description The continuation of this comic has ceased.
Please do not bother adding this to your favorites, or adding it to a group (or add it to your faves, I won't stop you).

I didn't see any gain in continuing this comic. Sure, my story-telling and artistic vision would improve, as I went along.
But I never really felt a sense of accomplishment, no matter how hard I tried; thus, the story will go unfinished.
I am truly sorry, and I admit my failure; however I will not let this short-coming eat away at my soul.

I've been caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to making comics in general; I haven't really found the time to do them anymore (stupid school work is getting in the way, a little to much). Rest-a-sured, I have already sketched up the 3nd page (a long time ago -_-). Thanks for waiting though

SCP Containment Breach is a indie horror/survival game. It's still in beta I believe, but it's a pretty decent game if you want to pass the time or if you want an excuse to change you pants xP
Game can be gotten here: [link] or you can just google SCP containment breach.

Also there is an organization- errrr I mean, Fandom centered around the game, it's called the SCP Foundation. The SCP foundation is basically an archive for other SCPs, what they are, their descriptions, what they do, etc. It's pretty interesting if you are the creative type.
Link: [link]

AND, I do believe the SCP fandom has a problem with MLP:FIM cross overs, but I don't care.

So, I was doing some thinking, and I feel that you deserve a bit more of an explanation for my hatred of this thing. Let me start off by saying that I'll be staying away from the general art style. I do find it a bit goofy in places, but it is most definitely better than my work. As such, I shall be focusing on the writing and story, seeing as you placed this within the Foundation universe, making it seem rather fitting to judge it by Foundation standards.
First off: Making Pinkie Pie hyper-dangerous kills three men oh my god kill it blargh. I get that there's this thing about Pinkie being cool and whatnot, but the only thing that has ever gotten a pass for that sort of thing is 682, and that's because it is written well, has a good tone about it, and is demonstrably dangerous. Having Pinkie Pie stand around and other people SAY she's dangerous does not make for a very good threat, let alone good story telling in general.
Two: Out of character moments. I'm going to go ahead and assume that you know at least a bit about the site and how characters on it work. Thusly, it is fair to say that you should know Foundation researchers are generally well-controlled individuals who have had to spend a great deal of time around highly anomalous, potentially dangerous objects, and NOT fanboys reduced to the excitement level of a five year old at the site of a pony. If anything, there would be a huge amount of panic over a pony like Pinkie Pie appearing, and having them react in such a way is both unbelievable and renders them unappealing to the audience. (Quick side-note: Gears can't get angry or frustrated at them for acting like that because he can't feel those things. Highly out of character for him)
Third, and probably dealing most with why I hate it for being a crossover: Massive tonal shift. I'm aware that MLP can and often does fit in with franchies that have a wildly different approach to storytelling and tone than it does. The Foundation, however, is rather different; there is very, very little room for levity and whimsy, and where comedy does sneak it, it's often very black or self-referential. As mentioned above, Foundation member squeeing over the sight of Pinkie Pie simply does not work. The Foundation universe is very, very dark; it is threatened with destruction every second of every day, and it's only through the hard work and sacrifice of a massive amount of individuals from a secret organization that it manages to see tomorrow at all (even if tomorrow technically didn't come; See "Document Recovered from the Marinaras Trench"). My Little Pony simply cannot coexist within the fabric of the Foundation universe.
We tend to reject pony stuff because it doesn't work, or because it's very poorly written. Yes, we DO have a few Gilda's on the staff who would much rather see MLP stuff deleted on sight. The "NO PONIES" thing is just Bright's personal preference, and a way of telling people applying to the site "don't dick around too much here". The formerly winged horse has absolutely nothing to do with MLP, and is in fact it's own entity.
And yes, I AM a fan of both the show and the site. A good crossover between the two would be great. But as I've pointed out, a good crossover is highly unlikely to ever exist, and you're even less likely to be the bloke who produces it. If you simply must make these sort of things, I figure you should at least be aware of what you're doing and why it is failing so badly from a writing standpoint.
Sincerely,
Gargus

quadren4 In reply to hdover [2012-09-09 19:09:33 +0000 UTC]

First off, it seem like you're taking a "black and white"-ideal approach (the "this is right and this is wrong, and there is no middle ground").
Let me clarify something here for you: I am not that much of a serious guy, I can be, but I choose not to because it just complicates my life. That leads to the next thing: I don't see the world as black and white, there are middle grounds among with other colors and such. So when you say something like:
"Foundation researchers are generally well-controlled individuals who have had to spend a great deal of time around highly anomalous, potentially dangerous objects, and NOT fanboys reduced to the excitement level of a five year old at the site of a pony."
I just scoff and say "well, they are humans, they're not all going to act exactly the same.

Out of character-ness
When it comes to the scientist, how they act(ed) and what not, well, I meant for them to act that way; When I began this cross over I thought "well, if I make the scientist and the agents act all..... serious, it won't be fun." "fanboys reduced to the excitement level of a five year old at the site of a pony."

I'm making this cross over for 2 reasons
1.) To develop my comic making skills (art and writing)
2.) for fun
I will acknowledge Dr. Gear's character was little out character, and I'm glad you pointed that out, I will try to improve on that in the later pages that will come.

Pinkie Pie
I never meant to portray Pinkie as "cool" just because she killed 3 guys and injured one other; she never actually meant to hurt anyone, but you wouldn't know that because THIS IS ONLY THE 2nd PAGE OF THE COMIC. They just assumed she was dangerous because she killed 3 men and injured one other; wouldn't you assume something is dangerous is if kills 3 men? Of course, further testing is needed, because this is taking place right after Pinkie's capture.
I do see now where you are coming from when you say "Doesn't make good story telling" but I'm pretty ameratur-ish when it comes to story telling, and over all not a very good writer; can't improve something if you don't work at it, right? that's exactly what this comic is for. Also, I saw that I could of started the comic out with it depicting Pinkie pie killing off agents of a mobile task force(aka, jumping right into the action), oooooooorrr, I can take things slow by skipping that part (I wanted to take things slow, and eventually speed up, because that is how my brain works).

the "tonal shift"
As I've said before, I highly understand that the foundation in itself carries a extremely dark tone. While, I could of wrote/created a dark comic, I ultimately choose not too, just out of shear preference.
I'm not trying to write something deeply dark from it, if I wanted to do that I wouldn't have choosen My little pony as a cross over with SCP; Hell,if I wanted to make something dark, I would of just made something that wouldn't pertain to the 2. So it's with that that I choose a "not so serious" tone on this comic; I plan on it becoming slightly more serious as the comic goes on, but nothing too dramatic.
I also wasn't aiming for the "SCP cross over comic series of the year" award, I'm just doing this for fun,to practice, and because I can.
And for me, this isn't "failing" because I am truly dedicating myself to this (dedicating myself in the way I like). I understand it might "fail" to some, but that's just how to world works, and not everyone is going to like certain things, and I am certainly not going to let that bog me down (it's pushed me down for too long, and now I say "fuck it").

I highly respect and honor your opinion, and I'm glad you took that the time to actually explain to me why my comic is "bad" as opposed to saying something like "THIS IS STUPID BECAUSE YOU'RE STUPID." It's good to see logical mature people with logical opposing opinions (THAT is what gives me hope for humanity) but I simply am not going to stop or completely change my comic (or myself) just to satisfy a certain group of people. I have come to accept that, along the way, there will be people who will argue against this and I might not even get slightly popular with this cross over, but it doesn't matter to me; What matters is that I manage finish this comic to the best of my current ability (my ideal: once I start something, I have to finish it).

I am very honored that you would go out of your way to explain why it this would never work in your eyes or in the eyes of the rest of the foundation; I sincerely wish there where more people like you (out spoken, having their own opinions)but neutral, that are able to help and develop my art (not just this comic, but my art in general). I will state that I will not conform with your opinions because they clash into mine, But I can say that I have learned a great-deal from your post and I truly thank you for that.

No hard feelings, but I will continue to stick to my opinions just as I think you will stick to yours, because that is what I think makes humans so great: the ability to share common interests, but to completely clash on others.

Thank you for your time

Thanks for being so understanding about the whole thing. I just felt that I came off as a little too curt and crass in my original comments, and you at least deserved an explanation why.
I can see where you're coming from on the points you elaborated on, and while I do disagree with some of them, I'm really not going to try and stop you from making the comic. So long as somebody enjoys it, it's a noble effort. It's pretty much the same advice we often give to new folks: "Give it a try and see where it goes."
Again, sorry for my original rudeness, and thanks for your understanding.

If the foundation doesn't want Pony-like scp's, then why do this SCP: [link] (it's the Formerly Winged Horse)? Is it possible to give me the source of this "NO PONIES!!" article? Not regular ponys or regular magical creatures.
But special (and dangerous)ones. But they have pony like pictures (style) and having different discriptions and such.

A pony SCP site? Hmmm, I can be done, but will it attract people?
I dunno, having a site that is just like SCP foundation, but in pony form, just seem kinda redundant; I don't see much to gain from making a Pony version of the foundation, but if ya got the know how then it wouldn't be hard to try
( I just don't see it being as popular or a fun as SCP foundation).

Good luck with trying again! Hope ya get in this time xP

quadren4 In reply to hdover [2012-08-23 02:01:57 +0000 UTC]

Ok, by calling my comic an "abomination" does not prove anything, nor does it make you look better. We could just sit here all day and call each other's art abominations, but will that get us any where? No, it won't. I also have the right
to post what ever the hell I make, on DeviantART, just like you have the privilege; No can stop you from going around and posting poorly drawn scp "fan art" the same goes for me posting SCP+MLP cross over comics.
ALSO, you provide no proof, at all, as to why my comic is an "abomination" OTHER then the opinions that you hold. Not to mention, you are the very first to hold a negative opinion against my comic- scratch that- the first negative opinion to hold against me AT ALL; Bottom line, the negative opinion ratio is at least 1:1000, so your opinions matter not to me. Even if lots of people hated this comic, I would still post it, just because I want to see this comic through. Another thing, I am honing my comic making skills by creating this, to get me better -see what works and what doesn't- Pretty sure that's why you draw scp members, to get better at drawing.

Advice:
1.) Calling other people's art "abominations" does not make you any new friends.
2.) Opinions don't matter on the internet
3.) Holding Opinions as facts makes you look stupid and (dare I say it) Noob-ish
