Description
The IJN Raijin of the Raijin Class Anti-Aircraft Cruisers, is the namesake of the class. The Raijin Class was based upon aerial reconisance photograpths of the Atlanta Class Cruisers that it was directly inspired by.
The Raijin entered service roughly around 1944-45, along with her sistership the IJN Raiju aswell. The ships made it to where the operations were taking place as defense against the US Naval forces that were inching ever closer to Japanese shores; The Raijin was sailing in-tandem with four destroyers (2 Fubuki Classes & 2 Kageró Classes) with IJN Isuzu following 5 meters of her stern.
The IJN Raijin and her sister barely survived the constant barrages of enemy fire in the Pacific Theater, but awhile later two bright flashes were seen of in the distance...
After the IJN and the US Navy agreed to end their fighting, the IJN Raijin and IJN Raiju escorted US cruisers to Japanese ports and help in assisting and dealing with the aftermath of the two bombs dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima; as they were the focus on getting them two areas rebuilt, and in general get Japan back on it's feet. During this time, the IJN Raijin and IJN Raiju had the very ship they were designed after moored up aswell, as the USS Flint, an Atlanta Class Anti-Aircraft Class was the ship moored up ahead of them in Niihama Port.
