Description This is a map I did for Enigmajones' timeline on AH.com, "Dead by Dawn" ( [link] ), in which Hitler and some other historically important figures die early in the 20s. As a result, the Nazis we know and love to hate never come to power, and the National Socialists get taken over by the Strasser Brothers, creating a genuinely lefty nationalist-authoritarian movement: not as popular with the elites as the OTL Nazis, they ultimately fail to take power in Germany, but become an international movement along with Fascism, Communism, etc. and eventually succeed big-time abroad in several nations. There is no WWII, but the Soviets get into a couple more limited wars with Japan and later with Germany and its allies, winning the first bigtime and ending the other ahead on points. The development of the atomic bomb is delayed, and the British empire lasts long enough for things in India to go very, very badly (think Vietnam with ten times the population) which in turn has bad effects on British politics. Italy does OK for itself and creates a strong alliance system. The French go *fascist and clash messily with the British. Now it is 1975, the atom bomb so far remains theoretical, the Strasserites are winning the British Civil war, the Germans are taking Extreme Measures to pacify a rebellious Polish puppet, and before long what this world will call World War II will break out... (Read Enigmajones' timeline for all the details).

The speech of Hitler the TL name comes from:

You can see that what motivates us is neither self-conceit or self-interest, but only a burning desire to join the battle in this grave eleventh hour for our German Fatherland ... One last thing I can tell you. Either the German revolution begins tonight and the morrow will find us in Germany a true nationalist government, or it will find us dead by dawn!

Of course, in this TL, he ends up a corpse in Munich...

I love your witty brand of dark humour. 15, 16 and 17 made me laugh a lot.
