Now I'm curious: Is he annoyed at being called "Louise?"

Not sure if Louis would care how it was spelled as long as it was pronounced correctly.

Personally people misspelling Louise/Lewis/Louie or pronouncing it as anything other than 'loo-ee' is a pet peeve of mine. Uncultured swine.

I've been thinking about how your graphic novel would/could be translated once it's finished, and I've got a question about a hypothetical Russian translation.

Most of the characters' names would be easy to translate; however, the Frenchman's first name could be translated in two different ways. Which one do you think would be more fitting?

1) "Луи / Lui" [Loius] , the modern and properly pronounced translation of this name. Now used for most people with this name;

2) "Людовик / Lyudovik" [Ludovic/Ludovicus], a Latinised form of this name, used in the old times. Now used for several historical noblemen; most importantly, the kings of France (Ludovic I, Ludovic II, Ludovic III...).

The first option might be more "correct", but I would personally prefer the second one because it would instantly remind people about the French royalty, and, for me, it would go better with his garish character.

In addition, I think the characters directly said once that he is named after the Sun King, so, if a similar moment appeared again in the actual novel, a phrase like "They named him Loius after Ludovic XIV the Great" would sound strange.

Oh, I most assuredly pronounced the misspelling as "Louise" in my head... so the answer there sounds like yes :>

Yeah but Louis, if you throw him now, what are you going to use against any other monsters that might be lurking about? Your shoes?

Well Santiago is basically a mountain of meat and brawn, so unless Louis surprises him... but seriously though I think if it came down to Santiago or the shoes, I’m sure Louis could find the strength

Perhaps Louis could trip him? He's got those lovely long legs and Santiago looks really top heavy.

Oh yes. Trip him and then use those lovely long legs to run like hell. Honestly, Louis puts any woman who can run in heels to shame.

Besides he mustn’t mess up the gorgeous ensemble he’s wearing. If we lost Louis, the world would be poorer for it.

James and Santiago, your sacrifices will be remembered and appreciated XD
