I see them more as people more than monsters, Mass Effect have done a clever job making most of the non-human races seem to have a strong connection socially between each other, almost assimilated, shame that the game lacks particular Individualism with the non-human races within the game though, we all seem to think that games are at their peak but there is still a lot more qualities that will need to evolve more extensively.
In regards to the sketches, I really think that you have incorporated a lot of the ClichΓ©s that how most Turians are Represented as in Mass Effect, I really like the way you have drawn them using such a simplistic approach to drawing them, I am trying to use your style of sketching to better my Drawing (I can't draw for shiz), I really think that you are a great concept artist, and I believe that I would be a successful Career Opportunity for you to have.

Err ... thanks, I think? That was a little confusing, but I think I understand most of what you mean. As far as individualism in other alien species in the Mass Effect universe goes though, are you referring to how they usually look the same? As someone who is currently struggling to grasp the 3D modeling software called Maya I can sympathize with Bioware and understand why they might not have wanted to render multiple versions of each race, especially when they're probably going to amp up the graphics and character models in Part 3 in a few years time anyway.

Ahhh Nihlus, our turian Jenkins. I really like your renditions of my favorite Mass Effect race.
Also, if you ever need/want/desire turian ref shots, there's a few places I could refer you. RiotLaFaine at the Garrus thread went through ME1 and did a sweep of as many turians he could, and I have them all saved here. For ME2 shots, I have a bunch of .rar files with Garrus. And then there's the tattoo database over at the LJ comm. XD We have safe places on the interwebs for turian refs, honest! /nodnod

Hm, the tattoo database gave me a mature content warning, and the first link didn't work. I'm always a little scared doing a search for E art because of some of the things you can find that I REALLY didn't need to know.

The things people have time for these days ... thanks for the links. I hope one day Bioware clarifies which facepaint means which clan, since those are the origins of the facepaint to begin with, during the turian civil wars. Although I imagine some - like the "skullface" (my favorite tattoos, by the way) - developed later and are more popular with mercenaries.

And glad to help! I too hope BW gives us a bone in clarification. I'd love to know the cultural drift, and really, other than what we see in Hock's vault... this is the closest thing we see to Turian art anywhere.

Well that's because turians are military to the core ... I was reading their entry on Wikipedia. The "culture" section was more stuff on how they get sent off to shooting school at 15, and they have a similar lifespan to humans. That's pretty young. Thousands of turians every year get elected to become specters, not all make it, join C-Sec like Garrus, go rogue, join mercenaries ... biotic turians are rare and put into separate divisions.

I got creepy watery manga eyes when she mentioned having chased him around. Then it occurred to me that the silly bint could survive a centuries-old Asari Justicar for two weeks but died in a second when he ran into Saren ... Doesn't Saren look just a little too evil to turn your back on? I wouldn't.

I've played a bit of it so far, played through the entire second part using an imported Jane Shepard from my boyfriend's saved games, and watched him play through both. We sort of "played it together" at first because I don't like shooters, but after seeing part 2 to the end I had to give it a go myself.
