Description TwistedBrush and Photoshop.
I have been busy with the recovery from Hurricane Irma. I have been creative, but just have not had the time to finish the works and ready them for publication. Life has away of changing our intended individual itineraries, but it cannot change my determination to create. All the practice I have accomplished has started to reflect itself in my current work.
I enjoy making these textures into a design that I hope is pleasing to the eye.
Thank you for viewing my work!

I was thinking about metal and gemstones as I worked on this one. I am glad I was able to communicate my idea to another. Thank you so very much, Debbie!

Sorry for your impact from the storm.  This is a unique and lovely jewel.  The silver and turquoise are of course reminders of the talented silversmiths I've seen over the years.  This of course rivals anything I've seen in the "real world".  I love how you've pulled it together with the one gemstone in the center.  Very nice!

While I often create gemstone, and in the center and usually as the second focal point, this gemstone was one of those happy accidents. It appeared when I added the Photoshop layer effect on the setting ("leading", using the terms of a stained-glass window maker.) With all the many thousands, literally, of application settings and options, these programs make a Chess game look like a game of Checkers.
Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate them very much, Jerry.

I am a few rounds away from finishing 3 squarish holiday doilies that I will present as gifts to my friends from England. They will leave the first week of November, so I have less than a 3 week deadline!

I sent you a message on Ravelry.
I am glad you met the deadline!

I'm glad you like it!  It was a variegated yarn, one colourway with all those colours in it.  I fell in love with the yarn, and bought out the store when I discovered it had been discontinued.

quasihedron In reply to CarpeDraco [2017-10-19 01:07:57 +0000 UTC]

I am having trouble visualizing the pattern for it. That 90* turn confuses me some, at the edge of the blocks.
I find knot is softer than crochet. How does this yarn feel after it is made up, please?

CarpeDraco In reply to quasihedron [2017-10-19 22:24:04 +0000 UTC]

The yarn feels soft and squishy!  (Part of the reason I love it, aside from the awesome colour combo.  It's 100% acrylic; some acrylics are soft, others are 'plastic-y'.  I stick with the soft ones.)

The 90° turn (AKA: Mitered Square) is made with decreases.  Do you knit?  If so, this will make sense to you:
Cast on double the # of stitches you want for a side, plus one.  (So if you want the side to be 20 stitches long, you cast on 41 stitches.)  Knit the first row, (and all odd numbered rows,) placing a marker one stitch before the middle stitch. (# 21 at cast on.)  When knitting 2nd row, (and all even numbered rows,) you will knit to the marker, slip marker, then slip 2 stitches (the one before the middle and the middle one) together knit-wise, like you were about to do a K2Tog, but slipping it entirely to the working needle.  Then slip the next stitch knit-wise, (yes, you have to do it in this order for the proper result,) with all 3 stitches now on the working needle, slide the other needle through them from the back, and knit them all together through the back.  This will give you - essentially - a 'centered' K3Tog, where the middle stitch is the one on top and the other two are leaned in equally behind it.  Knit to end.  Knit all next row, pausing to move the marker to be one stitch before the middle (as seen when coming back on the next row) along the way.  Wash, rinse, repeat til you've gotten down to one stitch!  Bind that one off, and you're done!

I have not knitted for many decades, but I do understand what you wrote. Thanx!
I am almost done with the 2nd doily. I have to edge the 3rd one yet, and then I will post the project. There are about 16 hours left on the two. I can do about 1-2 hours a day before my fingers go numb and start to hurt.

I did some research into the various colors and patterns in the turquoise family of gemstones. I was surprised. I used Texture Maker 3 and Photoshop to make the background green turquoise pattern. I hope it worked.

I know about reconstruction and how busy a person
can be with all the work going on.  I am happy that
you can find some quiet time to create beautiful art.

For me, creating helps me keep the little sanity I do have.....

Take care and cant wait to see your work again soon
