I decided that I wanted to shoot with somebody one day (this is not unusual), so I invited Julia over. We joke with her that she's a triple threat (she actually is!), she's a designer, photographer, and a model at only 19 years old. She's pretty amazing at all of them, so she's got a lot going for her!She brought a few of her dresses and such with her from her clothing line Xiaolin, and this was one of my favorites! This image has a timeless beauty. I suppose it starts with the fact that is in black and white, but it is really attributable to Julia's deep, languorous gaze, and to the quality of the photography. The fringed "epaulettes" also recall times past.
