A lot of my photo series are about a struggle growing up and coming to terms with losing a youthful childhood that one is accustomed to living. Photographing young women is definitely when I get that feeling most, the feeling of a transition that some welcome and some are hesitant about. Starting off with light and frilly confectionary styling, she seems to be holding onto a young childhood that is already past. I love Makayla's eyes because they have a sadness to them when she's not smiling, and she portrays emotion really well throughout this series!
