Peter Parker's life had changed when he was bit by a radioactive spider. He had developed inhuman strength, agility, and reflexes. That was not the only thing that had changed, though. See, the spider was a female. Peter woke up the morning after his bite a changed man. Or, more appropriately, a changed woman.

Much had changed for Petra Parker since becoming a girl. Her attire, for one thing. Her Aunt May had become much more protective of her, insisting that she bring a packet of condoms with her, everywhere. Not that she needed them. At least, she didn't think she would need them.

But the most important thing that changed was her relationship with Gwen Stacy. As a man, she was not incredibly popular. Flash Thompson often picked on her and the rest of her classmates just ignored her. But the one thing she could count on was her girlfriend, Gwen. That had all changed after the bite. Gwen just didn't like girls that way. And Petra wasn't sure that she liked girls, anymore.

Ending their relationship ultimately proved to be for the best. They both would miss the intimacy of a romantic relationship, but they quickly adapted to being best friends. Gwen showed Petra the ropes of womanhood. Clothes, makeup and, just in case, boys. Being best friends proved to be a very different experience for the both of them but one thing remained the same: they could count on each other.
