I guess he will somehow help the Avengers in the next movie, even if it doesn't seem to happen in the trailer

That's my theory, too.  That maybe Loki offers up the Tesseract only because Thanos has Thor, and Loki is desperately trying to save his brother.

I hope so! I know there are great chances that he is indeed being false to his brother and all, but, he is crying... and his expression is not that one that he has sometimes when he's being smart or false. He is trying to save Thor!
