I was looking at my Dark Crystal art of my Skeksis character earlier and was hit with an idea I liked.

For those not in the know The Skeksis were half of a whole being, they were split into two, the cruel Skeksis and the gentle Uru. Also known as Mystics, they were the Skeksis counterpart. I was rather suddenly and spontanesouly hit with the idea for making SkekDemus' counterpart be Moreta!. The Skeksis are known for being an uncomfortable mix of genders, so most come across as male while others can seem more feminine. So why not with Uru too?

So here we have Moreta the mystic! I am still playing with her Uru name and I also have no clue what her role in Uru society could be. So in that regard she is less developed than Damion and Ash's characers but still. It was fun to work with, I haven't drawn a mystic before!. I also thought it fitting to be Demus's counterpart seeing as in my original world she helped teach magic to Damion.

I tried referencing the original character by means of colour use, like the green and yellow colours for her clothes, dulled down of course as Uru wear earthen shades. Purple bits to reference her hair colour, her magic forehead gem has now become markings.

I also picture Moreta having retained a youthful look, so she hasn't got as many age circle markings on her face. The Uru also have white hair, so again to reference her original design but not look unfitting for a mystic, I gave her very pale purple hair.
I also played with the idea that she lost her second pair of arms, for the moment I haven't come up with a reason how but perhaps it had something to do with whatever her role in Uru society is?. If I do draw her again and no idea has risen by that time, I might just give her her arms back, or I might not. I'll see how I feel . but for now, the sleeves that housed her second arms are tucked to the back of her clothes, near the top of her tail

I missed drawing Moreta, so I also enjoyed that aspect of this image too. I have been wanting to draw more pictures of my Dark Crystal character versions, so this gave me a great opportunity .
