Smaug has the best smile, don't you think? I still feel sad that he got to his end so quickly in the third hobbit movie - by a bow that shouldn't have been able to take a dragon down, for crying out loud! Ugh. Anyway, I've never drawn Smaug, I believe, and I should have done so a lot earlier! He's cute

The Hobbit was awful!!! Galadriel saying ''You are nameless'', elves falling in love with rubbery dwarves, a ballistae instead of a normal bow (You can definitely kill a greater dragon with a MAGICAL dragon-slaying +50 black arrow), trolls that were not supposed to be present and had more to do with gaudy Warhammer trolls, Uruk-haï orcs instead of goblins, useless digging worms that had more to do with Dune (As a warlord, I would have sent those worms in battle first like in the fall of Gondolin)...not to mention elves who should never have ridden a stupid elk (A moose would have done a funnier job!)and who definitely gone to university in music (interpertation- classical flûte), a Dol Gûldur that looked like a piece of video game shit...and a Smaug who was supposed to be red and gold in skin colour without an obnoxious voice instead of a more brutal and evil voice...I miss guys like James Earl Jones...
....at least, the most important thing now, is the fact that you made a most beatiful piece of Art out of a wreck of a movie. The Lord of the Rings should have lost at least one oscar as punishment...that is why humankind must again pick up what's broken and manage to heal the wounds of moneymakers and dominators....it is better to be a small pipe-smoking hobbit than a fat king of men....I never loved cigarettes, especially....Peter Jackson's...

I quite liked the Hobbit though (but I ADORE the lord of the rings). I think it would have been pretty great if it would have been one movie. Then the plot didn't need to be stretched out so much and filled up with idiotic side plots.
Fun fact; Lee Pace (Thranduil) rode a large horse during the shoots that later got replaced by a digital elk. That horse's name was Moose, so there actually was a moose in it!

Wow! I have to say that I adore The Hobbit as a book...I'm rarely pleased with adaptations to the big screen. With Tolkien, it is especially true since most people on earth are not university professors at Oxford. He was so much more learned than what most people can conceive, not to mention the fact that he was closer to the traditions and the kind of world that Endor is...everyday,we loose contact with the far past & our ancestral mythology. All of this makes me think of what happened to Beethoven....when disco came along...it's Kool, but it's not entirely with (&) The Gang...

Is this based on the book, or the movie? If the movie, then movie dragons are getting repetitive.

...I am death! (And the death dies itself, yes, very logical... *ahem*) Ah, the second film ended so randomly in the middle of the building of tension. The second film is my favourite although I like the third until Smaug's death. Man, why must all awesome dragons get done away? The bow always looked like it shouldn't work to me and the arrow looked like it'd weigh a ton. :/ Is it similar in the book? (Still haven't got to read them... ^^)
I like the blurry fire effect here, only strengthens Smaug's sharp features. The head is very well-drawn especially that mouth.
