The year was 1841, London was slowly becoming one of the largest cities in Europe with around a million citizens. While most of the population lived in poverty, there was a small portion who lived a more fortunate life. The McKinney family were lucky enough to be in the lather, Arthur McKinney was a well known surgeon in the country and some even considered him a angel. Along Arthur was his wife, Betty, and his two lovely and smart children, Kaiden and Beatrice. From a young age, both of the kids had their future planned; Beatrice was to become a stay at home mother while Kaiden were to follow his father's footsteps and become a doctor. Although they weren't considered aristocrats, they did live in a nice house and had their own servant. Kaiden was mainly in charge of hunting and bringing home food, even though they already had enough food to spare, but he did more than just hunt. When he was a child, he would watch his father do his procedures and grew in interest. During nights, Kai stole medical equipment and tried to recreate what his dad did on whatever he hunted that day. Word quickly spread around the town that if you roamed the forest, you could find mutilated animals that were poorly wrapped by gauze. Suspicious, Arthur would question his son but Kai would always deny that it was him. Years later, the case of smallpox quickly started to spread around the town. Kaiden knew that when he felt his little sister's head that she had fallen victim to the disease. His theory was right as days past and a rash began to spread. Their father was stressed enough with trying to treat all of the other patients that he didn't have enough time to check his daughter, much to his family's dismay. This led Kaiden to do what happened next, figure it out himself. After his 'training' in the forest, he was confident that he knew what he was doing. The look on his mother's face is still burned in his memory. Burden by guilt, Kaiden was forced to pack up and take a sailing ship to the United States, New York in particular. Within the years, he managed to gain a name for himself and learned how to be a somewhat decent doctor. However in the back of his mind, he could never forget what happened to his sister. One day after was kicked out of a house, since he was supposed to amputate a (rude) patient's leg but 'accidentally' cut off the arm instead, he discovered a paper that was being blown around by the wind. Curious, he picked it up and stuck it in his bag. At first he was skeptical but decided to give it a shot. For the second time in his life, he decided to leave behind what he had.
