Description My bid for Lafluer, for the Christmas Donstrupper Auction . Come get a pea! (pois = pea and spots.... the one word of French I know thanks to the Donstrupper discord) XD

Decided to try a more sketchy style, which I thought would save time... It did not XD Although it was fun not having to keep my lines connected, but I miss my paint bucket XD And please don't question the bright red and blue tack.... *glares at discord server*

"Take him around at a trot and ask him to collect a bit," Ryan instructed her, before turning back to Gabe, "He definitely has gorgeous gaits, and is very responsive as you mentioned."

"Of course he does," Gabe replied, "Lafleur's definitely headed towards greatness. I bet he'd be a great fit at your stables. Have I mentioned that his collection is magnificent? He's definitely got the talent for dressage, show jumping, or eventing."

Ryan put a hand on his chin, rubbing the little stubs that could not be called a beard by any definition, exhaling gently. The warm puff of air condensed in the frigid air around him, forming a little cloud that quickly disappeared. He tugged his scarf, making it wound even tighter around his neck. "Ask for a bit more, I want to see how he's going to respond."

Jessica nodded, and asked Lafleur to shorten his stride, feeling the red dun stallion engaging his hind legs more. For some reason, this stallion had a bright blue and red saddle pad, which matched her scarf.

"Perfect," Ryan commented, "I think he's a good one. Try him over the fence, I want to test his jumping."

"Got it," she replied, letting Lafleur stretch for a lap, before asking him to pick up a canter. His canter had three clear beats, each hoof landing perfectly in cadence. He reminded her of Nuit, her stubborn and quirky but awesome mare that she had fallen in love with. And he certainly had the same fiery spirit, the same intelligent look in his eyes that told her he had a mind of his own.

Earlier, as she was walking through the stables with Ryan to look over the Donstruppers for auction, Lafleur had given a loud whinny, as if he was yelling for attention. A quick glance over the information on Le Demon Blond, and a short pitch from Gabe, Ryan decided that Lafleur would be worth looking at.

Snowflakes fluttered around her, adding to the snow which had been shoveled off to the side of the round pen. She directed him towards the jump, and leaned forward in the saddle. Lafleur took the jump with ease, and they landed on the other side of the jump. He cantered for a few strides, before giving a her a nice, happy buck.

Which she did not appreciate. Jessica stayed in the saddle, gripping the leather with her knees. She slowed him back down to a trot, then a walk, and finally a standstill in front of Ryan.

"You like him?" she asked, split about this horse. Nuit never acted up like Lafleur, nor did she buck. She merely expressed her displeasure vocally, and made it known how she wanted things. But never bucking. But Lafleur also had beautiful gaits, was very responsive, and jumped very well. His canter was powerful like Nuit's, and his other gaits were not lacking in comparison.

Ryan grinned, "Of course I do! Gabe, you wouldn't mind if I raised the bar slightly?"

Gabe grinned in response, "Wouldn't mind here, Lafleur can definitely make the jump. Just make sure she can take it." He gestured towards Jessica, whom returned a glare towards Gabe.

Ryan hopped over the fence, and raised the height of the jump by a few inches. "Go for it," he instructed, swiftly moving to the other side of the fence again.

Lafleur cantered towards the jump again. Jessica asked him to collect his strides, but he instead lengthened, apparently deciding that it would be easier to make it over the fence by taking two strides instead of three. And then they took off, with Jessica not ready for how much Lafleur over jumped by.

And she was launched out of the saddle, loosing a stirrup, but managed to hang on and regain her seat. She asked Lafleur to halt so she could get her foot back in the stirrup. Lafleur's ears went back, and he lunged forward, before stopping quickly. The result was her hitting the ground, and Lafleur calmly staring at her, as if he was saying how disappointing he was because she didn't anticipate his over jumping.

"Jessica!" Ryan called, "You alright?"

"Obviously I am," she answered, standing up and walking Lafleur over to Ryan, before dropping the reins in his hands. "You want to test him out?"

"Sure," he answered, jumping over the fence again. He dusted the snow off his boots, and mounted Lafleur, "You go look at the other horses, I'll take him over the jump once and join you."

He waited until Jessica walked out of earshot before commenting to Gabe, "I love this horse already."
