His Fate

Like every morning goes in the Shy household, it was feed and check time for the animals. The bunnies and chicks had already been let to roam after the sun had risen, but don't get fed until late morning.

Poison Ivy, the eldest of the three children, gently cradled a small bunny within her foreleg and wing. She treasured the company of the family critters, whether it was to treat them for an injury or just to vent. Her younger brother Phasmid, who was snuggled beside her, equally cherished this time.

Undoubtedly the pair had inherited much from mama Fluttershy, unlike their sister Valentine. Pet care was for sure something Val could cope with doing, but if she had a choice in the matter, she'd rather be doing something which wasn't being around those annoying, attention greedy pests their mama called friends. No offence.

Fluttershy clicked her tongue and whistled, then began to lightly scatter some bird feed across the dirt beneath her. One of the chicks toddled over, cheeping eagerly at the sight of food.

"Mama, where's mother?" Valentine questioned in the light of boredom. Playing with the dirt stopped being fun as soon as she started doing it, so she may as well see what kind of conversation this question could spark.

Ivy and Phas looked over, this was a question that had been on both of their minds, but neither thought to see it through as it was common for mother to go somewhere without giving notice beforehand.

Fluttershy looked down at Val, mouth agape with a smile as she froze on whether or not to tell them about the late night visitor. She didn't want to spook them or make them think they were going to get a little sibling. Then again though, Chryssie would be back soon, baby in tow.

"Well, last night your mother and I, while you all were asleep, had a surprise visitor. Your mother's gone out to get said visitor checked over at the doctors"

Phasmid perked up curiously, "who's the visitor?" Ivy jerked her wing slightly at the sudden movement, careful not to disturb the bunny she was now protectively cuddling.

"Not anybody bad, I assure you of that. He just had to be seen by a doctor to make sure he was okay, I would have gone with your mother but I can't leave you three home alone." Fluttershy wasn't quite sure how she could tell them that it was a baby who she found at their door.

"No disrespect mama, but I've been left alone with Phas and Val before, I'm old enough and am capable of caring for them if you needed to go with mother," Ivy commented. "Who was this visitor though? I feel like you're not eager to share"

By now, Fluttershy had emptied her wing of bird feed. She stretched it out and flapped before closing it, a feather or two coming lose and falling to the ground. "It's not that I don't want to tell you, sweet pea, honest, I'm just not sure how to say it without sounding blunt"

"Just say it, or don't," Valentine said with a bit of spite. She should've just stuck to playing with the dirt. "Val you don't talk to mama like that" Poison Ivy scolded. Valentine just rolled her eyes, which got an annoyed huff from Ivy as a response.

"Girls be nice.." Fluttershy sighed. "The visitor was a baby that was o-"

The three children stared up in bewilderment, and all in unison exclaimed in shock, "a baby?!"

The bunny and chick jumped, one anxiously waving it's wings about and the other wriggling and writhing in an escape attempt.

"Yes, a little baby boy, it was cold out so we took him in and warmed him up. We don't quite know what we're going to do yet, I'm going to speak to a friend later and see what they suggest"
