Here is my third attempt at making a planet / space background in Pasint Shop Pro. Getting better, not perfect, but the improvement is clear. I still have to work on the sun on this one.Related content

Ooh, this is very nice. I agree that the sun needs more work, as it looks much less painted than the rest of the piece and the lighting effects rays detract from the piece.
I really like how nice the planets look, though. The clouds give them a very painterly feel despite the high level of detail. I'd suggest perhaps having more varied star colors outside of that large central galaxy-ish blob of purple, though. Some dim reds and yellows would help break things up, I think.
