Description They were both at the feet of the ground attack airplane, loaded with ammunition and fuel, as he was ready to ride it and take off. He hugged her for
a long seconds as always, but when he noticed that his childhood friend was going to cry, he moved aside the hair form her face. "I´ll return. I promise"
-he said calmly. "But... but I can see the number of people that get shot down everyday... You're lucky to be alive today, my idiot..."-she replied
naming him as she always did- "I don´t want you to..." -she started crying before being able to finish the sentence. When he saw his childhood friend´s
tears, he hugged her strongly- "I´ll return" -he said in low voice, right at her ear- "As far as you´re here waiting for me, no fighter or flak gun will ever get me down"
"D-don´t say such things..." -the girl responded, with a broken voice. "This is one of my last missions before they dissolve my squadron" -the girl´s face
brightened when she heard these words- "After that, they´ll get me to another airfield far, far away from any battle. And after the war ends, you and I
will travel around the world as we said when we were kid. Right?" -she didn't say a thing, just stared at him, trying to smile back. Then he kneeled down in one
leg and suddenly kissed her hand- "I love you, Dora. Much more than anything in this world, and I couldn't wait to say it any longer..." -he needed all of his
life (about seventeen years) and a world war to reunite the courage to confess to her.
They kissed right before the siren sounded commanding all the units to take off, and she ran towards the airfield's main building, together
with the crowd saying goodbye to the brave heroes who were going to face an uncertain destiny while facing a technologically superior enemy with faster,
better armed, better defended planes in order to defend their beloved ones, their country.
Max's copilot, gunner and friend informed him that everything was ready, and that they were the next ones to leave. He kissed a photograph of Dora
he pulled out of his pocket and started pulling forwards the throttle.

I started experimenting with artist pens and markers, and I believe the result is somewhat nice. What do you think? Hope you like it
