Before I grew up (A point of contention, trust me) I was a massive fan of the children's series Redwall by Brain Jaques. He intended it differently I'm sure, but in my mind the Redwall universe was a post-apocalyptic utopia inhabited by giant anthropomorphic critters that lived in a polarized world of clearcut good and evil. Probably had a formative affect on me, but eh, I could have had worse influences. Like quite a few people I know.
