It hasn't been done before. And so, I'm doing it now, because I'm always disappointed there isn't enough .hack fanart (particularly lulzy crossovers) going around online.
Also, this may be obvious, but the next character I'm doing this for (probably after I color this one) is already in the picture. Can you see them?

I can see a bit of a hint towards atoli, but i dunno if that's my delusion or just obvious due to gu love triangle.
also, Cup Size is obvious in GU:
Shino/Atoli tie for "realistic but small", only saku is smaller, due primarily to aging of PCs.
Bordeaux is next in line
Alkaid/Natsume are approximately the same, but Alkaid has at least one more inch on her.
Then there's tabby, not the biggest but definitely big.
Pi is the cup-size queen hands down, hips too, pi's chest alone dwarf the rest of the cast's busts, and in-game, her Model is wider hipped than busty.
Don't get me wrong, Atoli/Shino have a very nice shape to theirs, and thus can do some "things" most flatter girls cant, But all are put to shame by Madam Pi! heck every other .hack// female except Ohka is, and even then ohka isnt as big as pi.

INGAME the model is more 33b-25w-37H with approximate of E/F cup

Its current cult status is nice, but it deserves a lot more mainstream attention than it's currently getting.

They're calling it a cult? bullcrap. It's more a second- or third-wave anime fandom than a cult.
it isnt the first wave stuff like TTGL or Naruto in their glory days were, but it's not the back-water opera stuff like RT or Seikei Trilogy.

I guess your description is not too far from the truth, but it's still facing fierce competition in a market saturated by shit like Final Fantasy, no offense.
No seriously, even if this is just my opinion, I can't believe anybody would like FF after VI; that was the last good one they made. I can hardly find the big deal regarding the other titles after that.

Well, i am a fan of FF myself, but i do agree, it's not as good now as it was then, though kudos to their 3d animation cutscenes' detail levels...just wow.
13 and 13-2 aren't as good as 7, and a lot of people say 7 is the best, me? 7 is okay, not my favorite though...of which is yet to be determined.

VII and X were the very worst. Call me hipster all you want; I tried them myself and could hardly find anything worth that amount of attention and awe that it somehow earned back then.
I also consider 're-inventing' the story, system and characters every goddamn release a very cowardly approach. //GU was awesome because not only was it continuing the story in the same direction //IMOQ started, but it even recycled characters (The Azure Knights, the Avatars, some of the real players behind the PCs, etc) without sacrificing most of the concepts that made the old games so enjoyable.

I'd like some more sequential stories myself, that i agree upon, however some of these Character have really good designs, so i only partially agree therein.
the system, i have to 100% agree upon, i liked it better when anybody could summon any summon and i also liked it better when character had actual levels.
