So, lately i've been redesigning various characters in my own style and adding various design traits i'd usually put into my own characters into the looks of the characters and making a "what if i originally made that character" kinda thing to them. started with my girlfriend's characters and now its moved on to the gems of Steven Universe.
My redesigns of characters range from very slight tweaks like this you can see where where its kinda more colour tweaks and very slight clothing redos to straight up remakes that look barely anything like the original save a few details.

here i'd say the most dramatic change is i gave her a sword as a weapon. the reason its brown and not a a scheme to match her like a gem weapon is i also kinda thought this design could be used when i get round to fixing up the comic's plot. kinda like she made it from whatever she could find. Rocksword. otherwise most of the changes here are colour tweaks.
Garnet's look is alot more cluttered with changes. might get round to finishing that one up too and posting it.

tried some new stuff too messing around with brushes on the background in a more painted up style and the eyes were the testing out type thing that originally got me off my backside to do some shading.
