So now you're writing forewords for yourself?

No, just a novel. Although, it's basically Sherlock Holmes fanfiction, and the originals were illustrated when they were published in the Strand. It would be cool to be able to do something similar. >3>

Now that is an amazing combination with your writing...or at least, the final product will be.

This is lovely -- if I saw it on a shelf in a bookstore, I would pick it up at once to read the back/inside flap.
My one suggestion would be to make the author name smaller than the title, de-emphasize it a bit. Unless the name is "Steven King" or something equally well known, readers don't care as much about the author's name as they do the title. Just a thought.
Best of luck in your publishing endeavors!

^^ Thank you so much!
I sort of thought so... But there was space I needed to take up and I couldn't find a flourish I liked. xP

Oh, everyone will know when I publish it (or when it gets published). The girlysqueal heard 'round the world, as it were.

The background is a little saturated/overly distracting, but it definitely looks like a good mystery cover! Also, will you be publishing it under Margaret instead of MR? (For some reason I'm very surprised at the full name.)

Easily remedied. That is to say, I'll have to mess around with it a bit more, because that's my process. xD I really have no idea what I'm doing, just mess until it looks like something.
I'm not sure what name I'll be using. The consensus seems to be that authors should pick one genre and stick to it, but that can be gotten around by using a pen name. I don't necessarily want to use a pen name, so I thought maybe I could just use variations on my actual name for different genres. Thus, MR would be for fantasy, and Margaret would be for mystery. I may not go that route, though. Either way, I have no intention of constructing a new identity to go with a new name, at least not until I make it as big as Rowling and have to hide. ;D

Well, when you become that famous I'll be sure to insist that I used to get real responses from you -- though by then you'll be so busy you'll just use a form letter?
I happen to like MR, because it reminds me of some cool people like JRR Tolkien, JK Rowling and George RR Martin. Plus it sounds classy. But I do know how frequent it is to switch names when writing other genres. (I know one author who just added his middle initial so children searching for his fantasy books wouldn't find his crime novels.)

Dear reader,
We appreciate your feedback and all that jazz.
Sincerely,
The Etcetera and So On Team.
(*shotforever* ;D)
I've still got Margaret R. Graham or M. Rose Graham, if it's the initials that count. Or I could just add a fake initial. M.R.Z. Graham. Snazzpot.
