Description

Fluttershy is known in Ponyville as the Element of Kindness, best friend to Princess Twilight, and cherished friend of Discord. Her uncanny ability to talk to and understand animals and creatures allows her to tend to them and help them better than the average pony. She often rehabilitates/rehouses them after they see Doctor Fauna nearby.

Fluttershy was raised by her parents with her younger brother Zephyr Breeze. Her parents both had severe anxiety and sensory issues that they never got help for until they were much older. This impacted both of their children in polarizing ways. Fluttershy became quiet, rarely spoke out of turn if at all, and constantly tried to make herself disappear in large crowds. Zephyr became loud, obnoxious, and took advantage of his parent's lenience and constant worry well into his late twenties.

Fluttershy herself was never a strong flier, and sometimes had more trouble than her younger brother. So, her parents signed her up for Flight Camp. The experience was miserable, until a small filly called Rainbow Dash finally stood up to a couple of Flutter's regular bullies. After challenging them to a race, Flutteryshy was accidently blown off of the cloud at the starting line. After falling and befriending the animals below, she gained her cutie mark.

When Fluttershy was old enough, she moved from Cloudsdale down to Ponyville, where she was more comfortable living. She adopted Angel after saving him and his orphaned siblings in one of her first major animal rescues. While the rest of the siblings moved out to be on their own, Angel stayed.

Over the years, Fluttershy remained a recluse at the edge of town, often just walking in to get groceries. Then, Twilight found her and the other Mane Six, and the pegasus started coming out of her shell and socializing more. She was encouraged by Rainbow Dash and Twilight to seek some help with handling her anxiety issues. Through this, Fluttershy became more confident and comfortable with speaking her mind, even if she was still a little quiet.

After the Young Six graduated from Twilight's Friendship School, Sandbar approached her and asked if he could be an intern with her at the animal sanctuary. She of course accepted the help, and found that the colt had a knack of helping aquatic animals, and he was a good help with the otters, frogs, salamanders, and fish in the sanctuary. After several years, Sandbar moved to the coast, with a heartfelt goodbye to his family and mentor.

Fluttershy often visited Sweet Apple Acres to help out the family whenever they had trouble with animals on the property. As a form of payment, Applejack helped her cultivate some rarer plants she needed for healing and feeding some of her animals. They fell into a comfortable routine visiting each other at their houses, having tea or lunch together in the afternoon. To their friends' surprise, Fluttershy was the one to finally ask AJ on a date, and their relationship evolved from there.

Fluttershy is married to Applejack now and lives on Sweet Apple Acres with their two children, Wood Burrow and Honeygold, Big Mac, Cattail, Apple Butter, and Great Granny Smith. She often goes back to her cottage to take care of the house and her animal friends that still live around the area.
