I finally finished it! Hey, ! I finished coloring that line drawing request you did for me! [link] Took me long enough, huh?

Okay, for those of you that don't know, this is a pic of a very young Vector and my OC, his older sister Victoria from my fic: [link] This scene technically hasn't happened 'on screen' in that story...but I may find a way to squeeze it in somewhere.

Windy did a wonderful job with the line work for this thing, and she wanted to see what kind of job I would do if I colored it.

I'll say, little Vector and the moped came out perfect (I had a hard time deciding on that thing's color, but I eventually decided to make it yellow like the moped in Fooly Cooly). Victoria....not quite as much. I think I screwed up her face a little bit (darn it! Why can't I get my own character right?!).

Both red and black are extremely unforgiving colors in certain mediums...like Prismacolor pencils. I managed to get the sweater shadows to look as natural as possible, and I referenced the hair in this pic: [link] of the siblings as adults by when I tried working with the hair here. And, I learned...giving hair shine and depth is hard in any color, but it's freaking frustrating when you're using black! It's like the pigments absorb any light you try to add on them! I had to keep going over and over and scribbling and smudging....sigh. At least it looks like hair. Not bad for a first attempt and long, shiny hair.

At least the siblings look like they're having a good time!

Edit: Following Windy's advice, I pressure-colored in the blue background in to make it look more consistent. I now know why artists charge more for colored backgrounds---I used a whole heck of a lot of my Deco Blue pencil, and it's a strain on the wrist. But, hey! It looks better!

Also: For some reason, I wasn't able to upload the edited version of this pic until I removed it from all the groups I had it in. So, if you see this in your inbox again, that just means I re-submitted this thing.
