thank you. i use cokin 007 filter for this shot.. and green and white custom wb to start with. forgot which one i use digital slr canon 350d.

recently I have my 40d but seems the color calculation bit different from 350d. so i decide not to use ir for a while

it might be my mistake so you better double check it. cheers

great one congratulations beautiful image !

I bought a hoya r72 but i havent started yet. I still have some doubts about the process such as.. if the exposition has to be done after sunset, like in a normal long exposition picture. What time was it, when you took that photo?

hi thanks for the compliment ..

i'm no expert but i don't think you can take ir after sunset .. yes you can but the result would be better with the sun. from what i learned that the best time to take ir shot is in the morning (7-10am). i think the point of ir shot is absorb the infrared wave or whatever it is from the sun so it would be better if you take on day time.

im sorry i cant remember the time was it.. but i'm pretty sure it was in the morning. hope it helps.

cheers

which wb do you recommend for Ir shoots?

qwodhoc In reply to CanndleBurn [2009-01-09 02:14:53 +0000 UTC]

i think you suppose to do custom wb.. you can bring white paper on location to make custom wb.. or green from the trees or leafs.

lol well since my comment i found out it is actually possible. people told me that with my nikon D80 i wouldnt be able to manage IR well because of the IR cut off filter but i found some great shots on here done with my camera model with a hoya r72. so now i'm trying to find one in this country lol but i'll probably have to get it from europe :/ oh well all in the name of great photography... which cokin do you use? P007 or a 89b or any others?

qwodhoc In reply to Billiardgirl [2008-09-19 14:46:13 +0000 UTC]

uumm.. icic.. I heard that as well, but as long you keep the white balance well then it shouldn't be a problem I reckon. and don't forget to shot in RAW and swap the channels. well I think you know that ..

I use P007.. you need you careful using this filter.. sometimes the light from the sun can go thru between holder and the filter that will ruin everything

and you might find hot spot (I forgot the name) in the center of lens so be careful to pick lens for IR... hope it helps
