Description I sought to search the foreign world
To sail the seven seas,
To tread the evanescent grounds,
To find a lasting glee.

I sought the waning woods for life,
The waning woods of woe;
But in those woods I found naught but death
And where the nightshades grow.

I sought the sordid shores for sun
The sordid shores for peace;
But while I walked beneath a scornful moon,
The tempest did not cease.

I sought the dinning dunes for fire
The dinning dunes of sand;
But I soon roamed adrift from water,
Adrift in this arid land.

I sought the straying stars for light,
The straying stars for love;
But midnight clouds brought about the dark
And blocked the stars above.

I sought my hoary home at last-
A hoary home by then-
And it was not 'til I found my warm room first
That I found myself again.

Is "dinning" a word?

Nevertheless well done! i like it! a little fine tuning and this piece would be perfect!

If an object is dinning, it's making a horrible noise and in this case, the howling wind (in my mind).
