It felt like mere moments, but it had been months. Life had changed so drastically in what felt like such a short period of time. From being lost without a purpose, aimlessly wandering through Amaryllis ignoring everyone around her, to now being surrounded by.. would she call them family?

She supposed she would.

Welun, the shining bright little spark – her moon. He had brought light to her otherwise dark sky, giving her a reason to move forward. It was rough at first, the child had attached himself so hard to her and Eclipse, well, she just wasn’t used to what it felt like to be loved. Not since her mother. But she grew to accept it quickly(although she didn’t always show it) and found herself accepting of her place as his guardian, protector, and mother.

They had many adventures along the way, picking up a few strays here and there. Welun always did have a knack for bringing home random animals. Crabs, worms, snails, even rabbits. With Kurkil the raven joining their adventures too, it only egged the small child on. He was a terrible influence on Welun. Eventually Welun brought home an entire wolf! It was unsettling, but Eclipse could not deny the boy. His heart was too big. Who was she to damper his spirit?

It was only as the winds of winter started to shift, making way for the bright blooms of spring did Eclipse realize just how much her small little boy had grown. He was a small frail little thing. When did that happen? When did he get so.. big? He had to have hit his first year mark – Eclipse was sure of it. Her own mother wasn’t there to celebrate her milestones.. Eclipse would make sure that Welun wasn’t left alone like she had been. She would make sure that he knew just how much he mattered to her.

And so on a nice day, when the weather was warm, the breeze crisp, the flowers in bloom.. she decided to celebrate. Eclipse brought him to the same spot that they had first met, with a small little lunch planned. Kurkil couldn’t help but tag along at the initial mention of food, and of course Buddy was always welcome.. Weluns butterfly was never an issue unlike the loud raven. However, what she didn’t expect was Welun to act just like he did on that very first day. Only now, the pup was grown, much larger. And yet this didn’t bother Eclipse one bit deep down. She wouldn’t have changed this for anything.

Once the excitement of where they were had come to pass, they settled down, enjoying their lunch and the scenery. Before too long Eclipse brought out her gift for the young male. It was a simple thing, a necklace - a small quartz point tied in grass, but its color reminded her much of her little moon. Eclipse allowed a smile to show on her face as she tied it around Weluns neck.

“Love you, my little moon.”
