Reminds me of an ocean wave, or snowy mountain caps...

A nice combination of color or nicely illuminated due to being juxtaposed to the blue, though...

the illumination is due to having limited colours at the moment, I mainly have titanium white, should get some other.. and moonlight I think

I would brighten the upper blue area as you mentioned in your other comment. It would help balance the colors in this painting. Otherwise it's fantastic, love the small pink highlights

I think it would indeed, thank you
I looked closely at it and there are quite a few detail up there so I'm considering a few things, all in the upper section though..

may take a while though.. I have stacks of half finished ones at the moment.. and working on many of them..

reminds me of snow caped mountains... and if u feel like its not necessarily finished, add some dark purple strokes to the light blue area... (my opinion)

the area in the middle?
I was thinking of darkening or brightening the upper blue layer..

I see wat you r talking about with the top blue layer... I think it might need to be a lil brighter, there's an odd contrast in this picture...

but i love love love this picture anyway!!!

there is an odd contrast, doesn't look natural even though it's supposed to be abstract..

Kind of gives me the feeling of Moomin Valley and Lonely Mountains^^

I found the Map of Moomin Valley on wiki, looks nice
You mean the Hobbit's Lonely Mountain, or another reference?

jossujb In reply to Ra-bird [2011-09-28 23:11:33 +0000 UTC]

I mean that Moomin Valley is between other mountais and Lonely Mountains. That have star observatory on top! But you know, it was blueness and roundness that gave me that impression.

Is Moomin Valley just a map or is there a story? The colour of the map is quite nice

can't say I do, I just spotted there is more than just the map.. books, comics, films..

jossujb In reply to Ra-bird [2011-09-29 00:23:27 +0000 UTC]

Books and balck and white comics are the original, but anime based on it is very, very popular. Something that everybody knows around here, and I mean everybody, even my grandparents^^

I'm not sure it is too well known around here.. has it been translated in other languages?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jossujb In reply to Ra-bird [2011-09-29 00:44:37 +0000 UTC]

They're probably the most translated books ever written in Finland^^ Though their original language is Swedes as the writer Tove Jansson was Finnish Swede. But all of her books are in English at least, and they're very deep and poetic little pieces. I'd start with Comet in Moominland, or Moominsummer Madness, if I were you^^They're very quick to read, but will remain in yous sould forever.
And ofcourse, the cartoon is awesome too (not with English dub though)

I read both Pooh books in one day when I first read them
Not sure there is much similarity, only the mentioning of ' deep and poetic ' had me think of those books..
Not sure I will be reading about Moomins soon though..

jossujb In reply to Ra-bird [2011-09-29 01:40:13 +0000 UTC]

I actually was meant to compare them to Pooh-books really, but then I forgot^^ But they are a on surface meant for childrenn, but deeper down you get more out of them if you're older.
No pressure, I'm just sure you would like them^^
