Description
I give you--
MANTIS!
-- and her sweet, scrumptious lower extremities!
Yes, Mantis! One of the most well-traveled characters in the Marvel Universe! The Celestial Madonna, the legendary being who would give birth to the Celestial Messiah! Given to the alien Priests of Pama so that she could become the ultimate martial artist and acquire complete control over her physiology! The only character in American comics whose editorial career spans three different publishing houses (check it out, I could never make that one up)! The heroine who adopted the practice of vigilantes doing their vigilante things in their civilian clothes way before it was cool, since her hero costume is just her working outfit when she was just a barmaid in Saigon (yes, you read that right)! The woman who shattered all sexual conventions, even the ones which normally do not cross people's minds, when she wedded none other than a sentient alien tree and even conceived a child, the aforementioned Celestial Messiah, with it (again, this is what actually happened)!
And worry not, degenerate who's looking at this picture possibly keeping your hand very close to your genitalia, Mantis dearest is not angry at you for your impure thoughts. It's just that, in spite of all of her accomplishments throughout 46 years of appearances in Marvel comic books she never really managed to carve out a place in the heart of fans. She's not even an object of hate, from the point of view of the fandom she's just-- there, if you know what I mean. And no, she didn't like the MCU version of herself. AT ALL.
Unfortunately the time when an author could make a statement by taking a South Vietnamese barmaid who earned her tips by allowing horny soldiers to enjoy some long-awaited release and saying to the readership "here, this poor unfortunate soul could be the most important woman in the whole universe" is long past. Not that comic writers have stopped singling out their original creations as characters which will surely define an age, or a genre, or both-- far from it. It's just that they take as an accepted truth that readers don't want to be reminded that people like Mantis before she became a superheroine actually exist.
Mantis is copyright of Marvel Comics and a creation of Steve Englehart and Don Heck. This picture's title is of course a not very subtle shoutout to the Mangaka duo Nico Tanigawa and their most famous creation. I found it appropriate for this mostly overlooked character.

Thank you! There are already a few tributes to the styles of comic book artists from past decades scattered across my gallery (this one, for example, is a homage to Dave Cockrum) and more are definitely going to come in the future.

If she keeps this up, I'll make sure she never leaves my mind again. Beautiful work. This is a real appreciation of the classics at work here.

Comic book classics or fetish pose classics? Anyway, thanks a lot for the words of appreciation! It warms my heart knowing that Mantis's charm left an impression on other people, too.

I know how to make that frown disappear, and it has to do with those long, tickly soles displayed so prominently.

In every other circumstance, I'd support your plan wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, Mantis dearest having completely control over her physiology means that she can make herself completely immune to tickling if she wishes to. And then it would be her turn to have some fun with those impudent, brittle digits you display so prominently.
But hey, if you're still eager to try, perhaps you might find her in a playful mood and leave your thumbs intact.

You said it: gauntlet. Singular. That leaves five whole fingers at the mercy of another being who literally shrugged off the freakin' God of Thunder (not kidding, that really happened!).

Sure you know how to introduce a carachter! As always, love the story behind the drawings!

Of course! "Best assets first", that's my motto! I thought that Mantis being all smiles didn't quite suit her character and that a neutral expression would have been boring. The story (and the pic title) popped out in my mind as soon as I pictured her being all surly for some reason. So glad you liked it, even though I jotted it down in, like, half an hour.
