A moment of silence for all the Sherman DDs that were lost at sea

An excellent tribute. My grandfather did not see combat but he was intimately involved in the planning. His job was to decide allocation of transport assets to each beach, ie how LSTs, DUKWs, and Higgins boats to each beach, making sure enough C-47's were available for the drops. For Ike, the wait must have been gut-wrenching. The longest day indeed.

An honest and moving tribute. Their fear was another enemy they so bravely overcame.

Very nice. I had the D-Day $2 Canadian coin earlier. I'll keep an eye out for another for you.

Within eleven grueling months, it would all be over. It all started at Omaha Beach.
I've been watching your stuff for years. You and Rich really outdid yourselves with this one. An excellent and moving tribute.

I had two uncles that were on Omaha beach. One I never asked about it, but the other (who drove an LST all day long) remembered thinking that the troops would stroll ashore after seeing the bombardment by the battleships. He said got a horrible surprise, but not as horrible as the one so many others got. He said he saw more men die in one day than he thought existed before that.
