Description
Just wanted to do a legit painting of this man-child.That beard will give me nightmares though, it was my first time trying to paint a beard, and brown eyes. Sooooo yee, might not be the best of the best, but I'm proud of this anyway!
Completed in 3 hours

I am absolutely in love with Mark, and when I saw the thumbnail, I was like, "Oh dear God in Heaven, save me before I go insane..." I just HAD to come see, and I'm all the more impressed; too often, the thumbnail looks better and more interesting than the actual picture, but I can honestly say it looks a hell of a lot better here than as a thumbnail.
The fact that it only took you THREE hours just... It boggles my mind; I take THIRTEEN hours and I can only get something maybe a third as good as this. The lighting and shading are absolutely fantastic, and the attention to tiny details drives me to insanity knowing that it didn't take you that long.
I love how candid it looks, like you held up a camera, said 'Hey Mark,' and snapped a pic just when he glanced over. I really get the feeling that he was in the middle of editing, and it's so... REAL; it's amazing.
I do want to point out that you could do a little better with some of the hair details to make it look a little more realistic, and if I really look for errors, the ear bothers me a bit, too.
But overall, I can't really find anything truly wrong with this picture; you did a fabulous job, and I kinda want to go looking through your gallery to see if you did Jack, or Pewdiepie, or any other popular YouTubers~

It took three hours because I am used to working in this style, so I know exactly how to paint what, that's really the only "secret" to my speed.
The hair... Man do I have to change the brush I use. xD
I didn't do any other fanart, but I do plan to paint Jack soon, so there's that.

What a lovely fanart of Mark! It looks just like him, and the eyes are beautiful! The beard could use some work, as it looks like fuzz on his face. But like you said, it was your first time doing a beard. All in all it's very nice!

I saw your artwork on I have some feedback for you !
First things first, this is great, mate! I'm not a fan of Markiplier, but one of the aspects I always look for in fanart is that the character resembles the original in any way, no matter the art style. I totally recognized him from the moment I saw the thumbnail. The shading on this really brought my attention and I believe it is very carefully and well done! I believe you're going down the right path and you're ready to try and play with colors more, maybe make darker shades to give it more depth, maybe blending colors from the background and the skin to make it look as a more complete atmosphere. So far the colors are fantastic and I think the pink really gives it that really Markiplier-ish ambiance. His expression is fantastic, you captured his essence very well, and I must say that you're my hero if you completed this in 3 hours! I see your references are pretty solid and I believe you didn't forget any important aspects (his ears, hairstyle, hands), as I said before it really does resemble the dude.
Since there's always room for improvement I'll tell you one thing on the hair though: the part where the light strikes the most is kind of messy, but that's a minor thing since I believe that was the intention. I also noticed you used a pre-designed brush for the beard, and that's fine, I'd just recommend to try and make some strokes on your own to give it a more organic and realistic look. Also there are some parts like the shirt collar and his thumb that I believe you left kind of rough, I'd recommend blending that a lil' bit more so we can focus on this expression.
Overall this is a very nice painting an you have every reason to be proud of it!
Keep it up this way and you'll get very far! Looking forward to your artistic development! ~

For the beard, I did use a 'grass' brush, and mixed a bit of free hand tiny brushstrokes, but those were on a different layer, and I lessened the opacity of it because I wasn't quite happy with it.
I left those rough, yeah. It is frequently the case, as I get too excited and impatient when I'm close to finishing a piece, I kinda rush it and neglect some details. Plus, I'm really reluctant to refine the hands, since I'm not that good at it, and it just ends up slightly less shaded.

This looks just wonderful! First off, his position is so familiar. It looks like he's thinking about a game, or about a mystery inside a game, trying to solve it. But he isn't doing it by himself, he looks at us, because he wants us to be a part of his videos and his gaming experience. So the entire image reflects his attitude towards his fans, a great thing to have captured.
Second, the colouring is perfect! Your shading is amazing and looks so realistic, and you got his skin tone just right. His hair looks incredibly smooth, and I love how the light reflects off of it. The eyes are wonderful and reflect his position, looking like he's thinking about something. Third, everything is so detailed! The skin on his hands, his ears and his eyes, but most of all his beard. I would have never guessed that it was your first time drawing one. I also really like the pink cloud behind him, and even though his channel's colour is red, I think we all know that pink has now been established as his custom colour.
Overall, this is an amazing piece of art and I hope that you will keep up the good work!

Heyy~ I really like your interpretation! I wanted to capture Mark's radiating kindness and dedication, and what you said describes it perfectly! Originally, I was going to make the shirt red to note his channel, but pink somehow felt more natural for Mark's signature colour, so I changed that. I'm glad I managed to pass that feeling onto the viewers of this!
