After going up the path to the beach , suddenly there we are, at the Pyramid Rock Beach.

Let me tell you about this beach. Starting with the flowers, they are a really rare multi petaled type of flowers belonging to the poppy family of flowers ( Papaver hybridum ‘Crimson Feathers’). They seem to love this beach and appear for a short time every year. We are lucky to hit the beach at exactly the right time.

The cone shaped rocks or hills or mountains are obviously why this beach is named Pyramid Rock Beach. Many many hundreds of years ago there were these natural hot mineral water geysers that flew right into the ocean. Slowly and through the years, the minerals built up and up and eventually made little mountains of themselves. Incidentally there is a particular kind of algae like plant that likes to grow on the Pyramid Rocks. In the active stream areas, there are choutes that have been formed with water running down them. A lot of people like to use them like slides to go down and slide right into the water. Oh, BTW, the water is lukewarm so no matter how cold the air is or what time of the year, it is always ocean swimming time. The shimmery haze you see on the water, if that came through alright, is the steam from the warm water.

We are now going to have a little picnic and explore the beach. We are having a good day.
