Lunartale Story

This summary is made to help you have a better understanding of the story of the Lunartale comic .

DO NOT read before reading the comic.

General information:

This AU’s name and therefore the comic’s name is Lunartale or LunarTale, because it is a Sans-centric storyline, with the main character’s name being Luna. The name doesn’t refer to the Latin or Spanish word “luna” meaning moon. Neither do the colors of Luna’s soul refer to the blue and yellow souls, Integrity and Bravery, from the original Undertale.

Prologue:

Ink is watching Luna’s creation from the doodle sphere. Luna, the Lunar!Sans is created outside of the Lunartale AU, which there has mainly one effect: Since Sans does not exist inside this AU, Papyrus, who has to replace him, is the older skeleton. Furthermore Candara takes his place as the younger skeleton sibling. With his special soul, Luna is able to cross the border to the doodle sphere, where he meets Ink. After Ink explained the doodle sphere to him, Luna tells him, that what makes him special is his parted soul and his task to balance the multiverse. Overwhelmed by the realization, that no one will be able to trust him, he’s about to cry and teleports away to search for the AU he belongs to.

The scene changes to the creation of the actual Lunartale AU, where Frisk decides to stay with Toriel. Outside of Snowdin Papyrus and Candara are patrolling for humans, when Papyrus tells his sister about his concerns about fighting humans, but Candara is able to give him hope and convince him to be more self confident. Then they meet Toriel and Frisk. From the doodle sphere Luna is watching them and, knowing that in other AUs it is different and that he will never be part of this, he breaks again. Then Ink sees him and, while telling the other one that he has to forget about them, he uses his bottle of green color, his kindness, to cheer Luna up.

When Error crashes into the Lunartale AU and takes the souls of its inhabitants, Ink follows him to see what he wants, but Error notices that the Lunar!Sans is missing and so forces Luna to come out of the Doodle Sphere. To make the battle fair, Error brings in None, who teleports there from the void. After an exhausting fight Luna and None cause a big explosion, which leads to Luna taking over and almost defeating his opponent, but when None asks Luna to save him, he stops his attack, giving Error the possibility to teleport away with None.

Chapter 1:

Afterwards Ink tells Luna, that he’s been following Error, who tries to destroy all the AUs, around and therefore found Luna at his creation; and that there is a place called “the bridge” where he could see, where Error would go. Meanwhile in the void Error is angry with None for almost being captured.
