SPOILER WARNING: TENTH CHARM

If you don't know what "Tenth Charm" is, it is this AMAZING Sailormoon fan comic that's kinda AU and totally badass *fangirls out* It is written and drawn by and her girlfriend Liz (who I don't think is on DA). You can read it here - [link] If you are a Sailormoon fan, you MUST go read it. Now.

It follows a character named Akahoshi Masa, who is charged by Queen Serenity to care for the newly-reincarnated Sailorsenshi. This happens in a dream, so she remembers very little of it. Shortly afterward she adopts a very strange, wise-for-her-years little girl named Meioh Setsuna, then later the tomboyish and energetic Tenoh Haruka, creating a family for herself and dealing with the reality of being mother to child-heroes in mini-skirts.

I've been reading it and obsessing about it for a good long while now, but have never gotten around to doing fanart for it, which has been a shame. But recently, there was a new development in the story that made me squee so hard I did fanart almost immediately in honor of the total awesomeness, and brilliance, of its creators. At this point Haruka had been bugging Masa for a little sister, and Setsuna joined in on it, so she did indeed decide to adopt another child - this time a baby. A few weeks ago the comic where they all go pick the baby up was posted, and it turned out to be...Usagi.

SO. AWESOME.

I was particularly wowed by this because in most incarnations of Sailormoon, Usagi grows up in what we would consider a nuclear family, and is biologically theirs. Even in the new live-action series (which isn't so new now, come to think of it), even though her mom is a single parent, she's still related to her by blood. So the idea of her being adopted, and sister to both Haruka and Setsuna, is so very interesting to me.

And as such, here is fanart, showing the Akahoshi sisters as they interact and all grown up. I tried to show their personalities in this, but I feel that could have been done better. Oh well, I was high on fannism.

Anyway, much thanks to Kae and Liz for creating such an amazing story, and an amazing plot twist. You rock my socks.
