Description I finally got round to finishing this after starting it months ago. Just a character portrait of Saga, my Norse battle queen character who's been kicking around for years now. Saga is convinced that she's the daughter of the gods; she's a little bit cray cray!

For some funnies, check out how her character (and my drawing style as well I suppose) has progressed over the years  img.photobucket.com/albums/v45…

Wonderful, wonderful work.  The amazing Charlize Theron as bad ass northern warrior queen. Perfect!

I love how you give your character portraits such believable expressions on top of beautiful faces, rather than just having pretty faces looking nicely into the camera.

Thanks very much Glad you think so ^^' Expressions are something I massively struggle with, so it's awesome to have some encouragement

Holy balls, Rachelle! Saga is lookin' so awesome!

I'm loving those markings and that Mjolnir necklace! Very cool. Also, nice work with the lighting on her skin! I love the shine across her forehead and eyes, especially. And the detail in the fur of her clothes, and the hair details - gah! Gimme your skills!
You have no idea how much I wish you did tutorials...

Thanks for the awesome comment as always, Rob!

I always keep meaning to save my progress shots and make another walk through like the Thorin one. Maybe I should just try and draw for a tutorial instead? I wouldn't know where to start, and I always feel so hesitant when I start something, so I'd be worried that the ensuring tutorial would be shite. If you have any ideas or requests on what you'd like a tutorial on though, I'll see if I can give it a go?

Tutorial requests? Well, ideally, I'd love to know every part of your thought processes, from visualising your layout to constructing your guidelines to drawing your line art to shading things in and adding detail.

But if I had to choose one stage, it'd be your shading work - I'd do anything to be able to paint like you!
Really anything you have to share would be super-ultra-mega-appreciated!

I'mma paint like you someday!

Hokay I'm starting a new self portrait, so I'll start by recording that process See if that is of any help!

And your work is ace, I don't know why you want me to do a tutorial so much. Beeeeeliiieeve in yourself

My non-traditional, non-life drawing art is nowhere near professional, and I'm very interested in seeing the techniques and thought processes of other far more skilled artists. Hence my tutorial begging.

Whoa! This picture looks amazing! I mean, just look at the details on hair, fur or necklace for example and the shading is just exellent. How can one do something like this in gray scale? Could I possibly steal Your skills, please?
I really like it!
And I guess the character progress image might be also used as Your style progress.
