Description WHAT!?

After six whole months since the first preview, you all thought those promises we're filled with the emptiness of my work ethic didn't you? Well I mean, MOST of the new additions (aside from like the character assets which I posted a while back) were done in like the past week and a half, however that's because it's ALL I've been working on. I have literally done nothing else besides eat, sleep, and work in this game since last week. It's all for you guys too, yknow I love y'all, even if I am slow to show it!

New additions include text boxes, more areas and assets, and a working map. Also, if the text seems a little bit blurry, I don't know why that is, in Flash it is really sharp but when I export it sometimes it gets blurry, not much, like almost unnoticeable, but it affects the way I wanted the text to look (that is, like MSPA), so if anyone knows how to fix that I would greatly appreciate the advice.Β

Music by Kevin MacLeod

Characters belong to Andrew Hussie

EDIT: I've noticed there a few typos, rest assured these will be rectified in the full release.

it is so amazing like you have no idea and even though the most recent comment on this was old it's never too late to give somebody a comment. <3

This looks very cool. I think I first saw a preview of this even before I knew what Homestuck was. Just a couple of technical things I'd like to point out: The hitbox on either the cursor or the things that you click seems to be very small, so it only works if you click a very specific spot; this can be quite frustrating, especially in a mouse driven game. Also, when the map is brought up, clickable objects that were in the scene will still display their text from the spot on the screen they were before the map was brought up, if clicked on. Keep up the good work, I myself am working on learning the ropes of creating an adventure game. Going to have to get a firm grasp on coding. XD

The hitbox thing I've known about for some time, but can't seem to fix. It is the cursor part though. The cursor has the same hit box as a normal computer mouse since all the code is actually doing it hiding the mouse and putting a movie clip at the spot where the mouse is, unfortunately due to the size of the cursor compared to the size of the normal mouse, only the top right left corner of the movie clip can click on things. I currently have a theory of how to fix that, but if that doesn't work I'll probably just end up increasing the hit boxes on all the clickable stuff. As for the map issue, I also know why it happens but not how to fix it. The map is located on every frame, rather than just it's own, because I am not proficient enough is AS2 to get a button to go back to the frame someone was previously on, rather than just a specific frame. Basically, any objects on a frame are clickable even if they're covered completely, meaning you can actually accidentally switch frames while on the map by clicking where an arrow would be, exit the map, and find yourself in a new scene, obviously this is an issue, but because most of the stuff is placed behind the map it sort of hides that fact. The text boxes however do still appear over the map because the menu needs to be above the map, and the text boxes need to be above the menu. I have a way I think I can get around this as well, but for this preview I just left it as is.

Rad thanks for the feedback!

The original track is a lot slower incompetech.com/music/royalty-… but perhaps I could see if my editing skills are high enough to make the music loop.

There's still some kinks to work out, but basically I've got the code part down to a T, just gotta make the rest of the assets (mostly backgrounds).
