SOUVS ARE A CLOSED SPECIES - YOU MAY NOT MAKE YOUR OWN WITHOUT EXPRESSED PERMISSION OR PURCHASE
BODY MODIFICATIONS
Souvesians are quite fashionable people, and frequently make modifications to their bodies in the forms of tattoos, piercings, scars, or in some cases removal.
CRESTS
- CAPS and EXTENSIONS (common): Souvs may adorn their crests in bejewelled caps that can either cover or extend out from their existing crests. These are often elaborate, but can be simple as well, ranging from iron to gold to shell, and even on occasion leather or fabrics. They're considered a popular form of jewellery, and are the most common way to decorate one's crests.
- CARVINGS (uncommon): A little less common a practice, carving designs and patterns (usually of some sort of familial or personal meaning) is another way Souvs may choose to decorate their crests. Usually, this is only able to be done on larger crests for fear of cutting into skin, but it is certainly something that can be done on any crest.
- REMOVAL (rare): This is the most uncommon and most expensive form of modification a Souv can do to their crests - complete removal on a slope leaves a high-gloss finish and an interesting look. It's an expensive and potentially dangerous process, removing ones crests, but it's seen as a dedicated act, and is usually seen among high-ranking officials and priests. When done in the temples, it is usually done as a sign of respect to their deities, as they are not worthy to bear the weight of their own crests. There are some temples or places of worship where you can see the collections of various crests cut and offered as a sacrifice to the Tines. The polishing of the cut crests is done on one's own time, or there are some specified spa shops that offer the services.
BODY
- TATTOOS (common): Souvesians love tattoos, and consider them a beautiful choice. They are more likely to get symbolic designs and patterns rather than full art, but that's not uncommon, and the amount of art pieces in the form of tattoos continues to grow. It is rare, however, for Souvs to get tattoos of words or phrases that aren't written in Galsouvian and aren't prayers.
- PIERCINGS (common): It's quite common to find Souvesians with at least one piercing. Any sort of body piercing, be it studs, dermals, bars, rings, etc. are commonly seen. If you can pierce it, someone's got it.
- SCARIFICATION (uncommon): Souvesians are not against cutting designs into their skin, and quite often it is seen as a way to beautify oneself.
- REMOVAL (rare): Some Souvesians take their body modifications to the next level by getting things removed completely. This can include ears, the fifth and/or sixth fingers, or tails (if they have them).

CRESTS
Souvesians have unique bony/keratinous crests that protrude from their foreheads and generally curve back towards the ears. Structure can vary with these crests, and here are a few of the most commonly seen.
CREST TYPES and RARITIES
- NONE (common): A common sight is to see a modern Souvesian with no crests. It's not really seen as being any less beautiful, and you'll often see many of Gal's models without horns.
- BABY DEVIL (common): Short, small crests that protrude forward from the face or curve inward from the sides. These crests are small, certainly, but are easy to cap. They only ever get as long as the ear in length.
- HELM (common): Thick, flattened crests that curve back along the skull and stick relatively close to it. These crests usually only go about two finger lengths past the tip of the ear, and may be shorter or longer than that.
- WING (uncommon): A larger crest type that stays close to the skull but flairs up at the tips and tapers out. This gives the crests a sort of wing-like shape.
- SICKLE (uncommon): A longer crest that curves out from the head, usually towards the back of the skull, in a sickle shape. These crests can grow into great curves that curl down below the ears, but will never make any sort of loop or complete circle. The farthest this crest type will curve is a half-circle.
- HAMMER (uncommon): A thick crest that ends in an abrupt edge. This crest may or may not taper into a pointed edge. The crests that do taper are usually referred to as chisels.
- MULTI-CURVE: These crests curve and twist in all sorts of fantastical directions. Primarily it's a simple S-curve, but other styles have been seen before.
- RIDGED (rare): Ridged crests are usually crests that are large and have grown to reflect a segmented look. These crests can vary in shape and size, and can appear on any sort of existing crest.
- CROWN: This crest type grows straight up from the forehead, and will usually stand about half a face length up from the skull.
blessed traits for crests include:
Gravitas - biolume horns

COLOURS AND PATTERNS
Souvesians are a fairly colourful species. It's not uncommon to see Souvesians with bright, eclectic markings, but it's also quite natural for Souvesians to be skin-toned or dull with no visible patterning. Souvs don't really judge each other on their markings or coloration, but more so by the outfits they wear and the modifications they have endured.
COLOURS
- ROYGBV (common): Souvesians are colourful! No pigmented coloration is rarer than another.
- SKINTONES (common): Listing this in its own category to explain that skintoned Souvesians exist.
- GREYSCALE (uncommon): True greyscale, true black-true white, is not as common as colour.
- MONOCHROME (common): Single-colour gradients i.e. light blue to dark blue.
- CHROMA (uncommon): duochrome, chromatic shift from one colour to another i.e. blue to green.
- GLORIACHROMA (rare): Multichrome, rainbow chromatic shift, does not move with light.
- PEARLESENCE (mythic): A holo/pearlescent shift in colour that changes with the light.
- IRIDUS (rare) - chameleon skin - pigments may shift at will with emotion or concentration. This does not change the patterning, only the colours.
- ANIMAS (mythic): A trait that was gifted to the Souvesians from The Alurblood. This trait allows markings present on a body to move continuously and shift. This does not change the pigment or arrangement of colours in the markings, only the patterning and how it displays.

EXTRA TRAITS
- MOTHERKISS (rare): A dusting of sparkling, reflective tiny patches of pigment that sparkle under light. This trait can appear as a single colour, but more often than not shimmers and twinkles with many colours like the stars of Amálea.
- FRACTAL (rare): This trait causes all the markings on a Souv's body to fracture and look as though they've broken apart, showing the base colour between the broken segments.
- HAIR (legendary): While a common trait among Xols and Harts, body hair on other souvesians is a rarity. It's incredibly uncommon for Nuins and Varsis, but not unheard of. With this trait, these Souvs develop extra hair along their arms, elbows, ankles, and occasionally the face for male Souvesians. On the extreme end, this trait can still effect Harts and Xols as well, making their entire bodies overly hairy. This trait has been seen to make Souvs look rather similar to a yeti on some occasions, and can cause some rather unfortunate problems for those who suffer from this level of growth.
- SCALES (legendary): Souvs are a wild and diverse race, and have many interesting traits. Some may even grow scales - simple smooth scales like that of a serpent, layered like that of a fish, or occasionally it will be a mix of them all. Scaled Souvesians may develop scales anywhere on their bodies, and it can range from a few patches on places like the chest or shoulders, to in some cases an intense coverage that may expand across their whole body.
- BIOLUME (legendary): Patterns that appear on the body that are bioluminescent. These markings usually appear in geometric lines, but there is no limit to the looks. Occasionally they'll even look like faux runes or symbols.
- DIAMODUS (mythic): A mutation of Iridus, this trait will make areas of a Souv's skin translucent or entirely transparent like with diaphonized specimens in labs.
