Really nice man, though a bit of a critique is that the depth feels a bit off like the city is much closer than it actually is. So it looks more like a small maybe halfling, or midget city. Especially with the birds in the backround, which if you were to put it to scale would be much much larger than a person, as opposed to what ya probably were going for as simple birds.

Really awesome!
for a couple of days ago. I like the out of focus stuff in the foreground, and the birds and buildings really give you a feeling for the size of the trees.

I like the small city. They need a system of bridges for a railway and a harbour of live-steam "Putt Putt" boats. The trains should be like recycled Mamod live steamers or something.

I agree with the bridges, but the rest does not seem to fit the setting, imo.Β I see no evidence that this is post 18th century, a.d.

I agree.Β The piece is inspirational but the perspective is off.Β Depth is created from size, position, overlapping, and effects like.. atmospheric perspective and the like.Β I think you could still fix it by making the limbs sticking out of the water get much smaller and more plentiful as you move up the canvas.
This piece does make me want to start drawing right now.. which is the highest compliment I can give.

Very beautiful scene, but the perspective is throwing me off a little bit. It seems to me like the village is miniature size compared to the man, rather than being far away, which I assume is your intent.

It's nice to have a DD like this on someone who didn't have much exposure here till now. Very good colors, great atmosphere,.
To be honest I thought it was a miniature village Γ first ! ^^

Maxa-art In reply to JohnZ117 [2014-10-01 09:53:12 +0000 UTC]
The birds' size is indication of the scale, showing that the trees are gigantic (they still seem pretty huge though), also the perspective with the wooden stakes seems tell that the village is very far away. But I agree it seems kinda closer at first glance.
π: 0 β©: 1
JohnZ117 In reply to Maxa-art [2014-10-01 12:35:05 +0000 UTC]
The stakes make the city look relatively close, and the birds look as though each'd take up the better part of a story of those buildings. Β Β And, a four-story building that close could not be lived in by normal sized humans.Β I remain unconvinced.Β It's still a great picture.
