At the time Pirandello wrote this quote had already 'realized that men taking behaviors
different depending on the circumstances in which they find themselves at a given time.
All we wear every day a thousand masks with which we appear in front of others.
They often hide the true self that we consider too "scary" to be shown to others
and we are also afraid of the judgment of others.
This phenomenon concerns the whole of society and manifests itself in various situations: when we meet new people
we tend to behave so as to appear flawless, although perhaps in everyday life we ??are far from it.
Sometimes the masks created by ourselves there to reflect nothing but serve only to look better
and to be accepted by society today, now it made up of people that are reflected in all the same
standard model.

All’epoca in cui Pirandello scrisse questa citazione si era gia’ reso conto che gli uomini assumono comportamenti
differenti a seconda della circostanza nella quale si ritrovano in un determinato momento.
Tutti noi indossiamo quotidianamente mille maschere con le quali ci mostriamo davanti agli altri.
Spesso esse nascondono il vero se stesso che noi consideriamo troppo “spaventoso” per essere mostrato agli altri
e siamo anche timorosi del giudizio altrui.
Questo fenomeno riguarda l’intera società e si palesa in varie situazioni: quando dobbiamo conoscere nuove persone
tendiamo a comportarci in modo da apparire senza imperfezioni, anche se magari nella quotidianità siamo tutt’altro.
Talvolta le maschere create da noi stessi non ci rispecchiano per niente ma servono soltanto per apparire migliori
e per essere accettati dalla società odierna, ormai costituita da persone che si rispecchiano tutte in uno stesso
modello standard.
indossiamo la maschera;...nascondiamo la parte oscura e segreta di noi per poter camminare a testa alta in questo
eterno carnevale.
