That students all over the world are bullied for their sexual orientation.

That when the time comes, I cannot sponsor my partner for citizenship.
I give a damn
That teens would rather commit suicide then face the pain brought on by their loved
ones.
I give a damn
That some parents would throw their kids out of the house, just for being gay.
I give a damn,
Because homosexuality is not a choice, and every individual deserves basic human
rights.

I remember the gay kid from my high school, we graduted together. He was a funny and sweet guy, and if people knew him, I could not understand how someone could hate him.
I feel deeply and condescendingly sorry for homophobes, that they squander their precious humanity on unjustified misery and hate. As a recovered homophobe myself, I give a damn, and desire to help the GLBT community as well to help homophobes come to enlightenment and realize what a waste their discomfort is. It's not impossible to change their minds. And it's the best chance at creating a better future for all.

This is absolutley great! I love the message and the constant repeat of 'I give a damn. . .' I'm not Bisexual or Lesbien but I know that my cousin is and she's suffering a hard time and so I support her. My parents do not approve of anything though so I want them to see homosexuality as normal love because that's what it is, a person can't change that fact after all it's their feelings not anyone elses

wow! I just learned something i was blissfully unaware of..... im sad now, but more obliged to be able to accept homosexuals into my life. To be sure, i never had anything against them or anything...actually, some of them are the best and funniest people me and my friends know, because in a way, their not all that perverted!! That's a good point.
Just like how people of all kinds often say you shouldn't discriminate people simply because certain beliefs of their's are different than yours. People do it anyway though.
If someone's beliefs involve interfering with other people's lives or intentionally making them miserable than something needs to change somehow. Otherwise, people should simply be allowed to live and believe freely.

I also am a Christian so not ALL Christians believe that homosexuality is a sin... I get that a lot. "How can you be lesbian AND a Christian?" Well I'll tell you how: Not everything about Christians is true. Of course, there are Christians out there that hate homosexuality, I've bumped into a few myself, but I have friends who are also Christian and don't mind at all that I'm lesbian.

For whatever reason there are people that just absolutely refuse to be accepting, and I'm very sorry that your parents are apparently among those people.
Living your life in a way that will allow you to be happy may result in you losing people along the way, but I'm sure you will gain ones that will always stay with you <3

I really hate how many Christians discriminate and abuse people for there sexuality and teach their children to do the same. This is mainly because that very same religion is supposed to support tolerance, forgiveness, and the belief that we are all God's creatures. They contradict and twist their own supposed beliefs constantly. They say homosexuality is unnatural, but it has been proven that many species have homosexuals among them. I highly doubt that it was the choice of the animals, don't you?
If there is a God, I think they created homosexuals and bi-sexuals same as every other person and wishes the same of them as may be wished of any other. I find it impossible to believe that any genuine benevolence exists in those that discriminate based off of religion, or anything else.
True discrimination (actually targeting someone for their differences) of any form, as far as I'm concerned, is just the result of people refusing to understand things that confuse/frighten them for whatever reason, and teaching new generations to do the same.
I don't know what kind of feeling this piece gives me, but those are my resultant thoughts non-the-less. Thank you for this short but very meaningful piece.
