Charlie sat in his room on his bed; his knees huddled to his chest.
His guitar sat at his feet and he looked at it like it was something that could kill him any minute.
Maybe it should be mentioned that his white Pixar shirt was so soaked with tears that it stuck to his chest.
He didn't expect that listening to his friend's music could cause this… I mean the song was happy but Charlie couldn't help but actually think back to the time that the song was written.
He had been at Tom's the week before he showed it to Alex and him. He couldn't remember a whole lot from the night because, very unlike Charlie, he had been drinking with Tom. Then the next morning he played some songs on guitar for Tom then left.
Charlie twisted his hand into his hair, Tom's album "Painfully Mainstream" still playing on his Mac.
He wanted to turn it off but he was too deep in shock. The laptop sang out the last of the song Mixtape and began playing Springsong again.
Charlie didn't want it to go back to Porphyrophobia. Not the fear of the color purple.
The song was to perfectly made for any fan of either Tom or Charlie could never connect it… even Alex and his devious mind would take a long time to figure it out. It took Charlie nearly three years to connect it and it was about him.
Three quick facts (for those of you who are confused):
Charlie had gotten drunk. Charlie had slept with Tom. And Tom loved him.
Porphyrophobia, the fear of not just the color purple… not to Tom anyway. It was Tom's song about when Charlie shattered his heart… Charlie hadn't meant to, he would never purposely hurt Tom. But he would never purposely sleep with him either.
That wasn't even true. Tom loved Charlie three years ago… but did Tom still love Charlie now that Charlie finally loved Tom?
