Tom leaned against the door frame and observed the small puppy sniffing out his new surroundings.
Ed openly expressed the fact that he was not too pleased with the puppy and neither was Bacon but Tom didn't care. All Tom cared about was his newfound friend, the only friend he felt like he had anymore.
Lio turned toward Tom and wagged his tail happily; his eyes lit up in a way that heavily reminded Tom of Liam when he had given Liam the stuffed Dalek what seemed like ages ago.
Something hot and wet rolled his left cheek. He wiped it away and got down on one knee, beckoning the puppy to him.
Lio did the most adorable thing that puppies do and scampered into Tom's arms and began to lick at his face happily.

After getting Lio one hundred ten percent settled Tom told his housemates that he was going out again.
Tom pulled on a jacket and shoved his I-pod into the inside pocket. The headphones snaked up to his ears where music played at random for his walking pleasure.
The techno-beat song ended and a slower guitar heavy song started.

I'm standing on a bridge
I'm waiting in the dark
I thought that you'd be here by now
There's nothing but the rain
No footsteps on the ground
I'm listening but there's no sound

Tom sighed heavily and continued to walk through the pouring London weather. He wanted to be walking to his favorite comic book store holding Liam's hand… Not with his hands shoved into his pockets and one of his favorite songs by Avril Lavinge playing.
He pulled his hand out of his jacket pocket and pulled the handle of the shop's door.
"Tom!" the semi-round, bespectacled shop-keep said happily as the bell jingled above his head. "It's been a while! What'cha been up to?"
"Hey Al, I've been breaking hearts and promises and I'm low on new things to read," Tom said half-heartedly and looping one of the headphones around his ear.
"Hmm… Well we just got in some new things… and there was this one in particular I thought you might enjoy…" Al stepped from behind the counter and waked toward the section of thick Marvel comics. He pulled one of the thinnest novels from the shelf. "It's called Pax Romana."
The book was handed over to Tom's open hands.
"It's about a kid who is bred to become the Pope of the Catholic church and the Catholic church is in total control of the world… but I will leave it to you to read it because I know how much you hate too many plot spoilers…"
"Thanks Al," Tom paid for Pax Romana and a couple of the other comics he picked up monthly and walked out of the shop.
He had the book in his hands when he flipped open to the first page of the actual story part and in semi-elegant script, written in large white letters of a brown to orange pattern of circles:

Destroy the past, create the future.

Maybe that's exactly what he needed to do.
