Description It was so hard to take a good picture of this. It kept reflecting. ):

This took me two days, mainly because the background had to dry. I first painted the entire frame in pink shades. (fairly thick too, you can see the strokes) When it was dry, I sketched the picture over it, and started working with ink. Oh the horror of leaving the lining of Marceline's hair out.
But it worked.

I hope you like it. (: I really like the outcome. And the color.

Acrylics paint, charcoal, Chinese ink.
Time taken: about 8 hours. (drying not included ..)

I'm glad you like it!
It's actually on acrylic paint. I painted the background first, let it dry and used ink over it.

Oh, the color and texture turned out perfect. Bravo! I especially love how you can see their subtle expressions and the glossy white on the reb bubbles and figures. Again, wonderful job!

I really like the texture you created, as well as it being a lovely picture. Nice style too. Were the strokes being visible intentional, or just a happy accident?

Anyway, I agree, the color is a great contrast to the black paint.

For future reference, I'm not sure if this'll help, but I assume you tried turning the flash off for the picture. If you can, turn down your ISO as far as you can. That should make your aperture less light sensitive so the reflection should be as strong.

Anyway, awesome picture, can't wait to see more.

raevenilonka In reply to Xallamax [2011-10-10 12:32:50 +0000 UTC]

Yes the texture was intentional, since I've created more of this style paintings (:
I'm glad you like it!

I've tried so much to take a decent photo with this pic, even playing with the Iso didn't do much ): The ink just reflects so much. A bit of a light source on one side, and the black would be off. But I managed (:

Ah, I just started my photography class in September, so it's all alien territory to me anyway That was just the small bit of understanding I've gleaned from... a little over a month of education. Go me.

Anyway, watched for what I'm sure if further awesomeness to come, happy creating! ^-^

Hahaha that's just your average canvas. But I painted really thick with acrylics. That's the pink color. I let it dry for a day and did the black with Chinese ink (:
