Description Saint John's day is one of the only anniversaries that are celebrated in the liturgical calendar, only that of Saint John the Baptist (June 24th) of Our Lady (September 8th) and that of Jesus Christ (December 25th).Here in Brazil, there are several and several traditions on Saint John's day and throughout this winter period(typical foods, dances, feasts..)But mainly on Saint John's day. This year the feast is being celebrated on the 23rd, because the day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus fell on the 24th.

Some explanations about some elements of the drawing:
Saint John, Saint Elizabeth and Saint Zacharias have silver halos, as they died before the crucifixion of Jesus, and because the old testament was associated with the moon and the new with the sun.Our lady is holding a basket of wood and nails, representing Jesus' sacrifice to come.Saint John is the precursor of Jesus, that's why he is pointing to the virgin Mary, because from her womb will come Jesus, the savior.Another detail is the plants and fruits on Elizabeth's clothes: Melon, roses, cloves and basil, which are part of a song from here in Brazil for the feast of Saint John called Capelinha de Melão. And on the table there are small red and yellow squares, they are jams that, at least in my city, sold a lot at the Saint John feast.

Happy Saint John!!!
