“No,” her father replied causing her to growl. “Their arrival was anticipated. The family would never give up searching for their sister. Fortunately, we moved our prisoner to another location with another warden. The advantage is we now know their futuristic technology cannot stand against you. This redhead is an element we didn’t anticipate. I don’t know who this person is…”
“Does it matter? Twice nothing is still nothing. We should kill them now.”
“And make them martyrs? No. We stick to the plan. We want them demoralized. That one’s daughter is the only person who can defeat you. Kill the mother, and you unleash a foe you never want to face. No. We let her live to spread the fear of this encounter to the others. Let fear be your weapon, daughter.”
“So boring.” She leaned closer to the unconscious Star. “Next time…next time…”

Uh oh. That's the problem with magic, there often aren't many ways of coutnering it except for, err, more magic, unless the universe has some sort of anti-magic crystals or similar. All the fancy armour and weapons in the world can't help you if someone is powerful enough...
The magical effects on both our villains have come out well, especially the glow from Emma's hand illuminating the unfortunate Star.

The thing with magic, for it to be quantified scientifically, it's a manipulation of energy in its various forms. Their suits are designed to counter most forms of energy and even tested with the help of Sorceress aka Alicia Dudley. Emma is just the strong where she can overpower the suits.

Ah, OK. That's the kind of in-universe detail that I like, in story settinsg magic can only really be stopped with other magic so that's useful to know in a universe like yours that mixes the two

The Force in Star Wars is essentially magic, but it's all energy manipulation with substances used to counter or resist the Force. Even in Warcraft magic is seen as various forms of energy. Those are the references I used in my universe. Etyssa explains it in one of the earlier stories when she first meets with Ivana. It starts here:
