I've had a Yanmega on my Diamond, and when it evolved, I was like... "Damn, I need to train this bastard" And so it became one of my highest trained PokΓ©mon.

Is this kinda like the zuubats in dark cave? Every ten freakin steps and there was another one. :/ I haven't played pokemon since gold and silver. I'm so outdated when it comes to this.

Oh. Okay. I wouldn't know. Are Yanmegas awesome? Well I mean you made on out of lego, but I figured that its just one of your personal faves.

Yeah, they're pretty cool Generally my favourites are the underdogs - the ones which are good, but not that good, so you need tactics and skill to get them to work (otherwise it'd be boring if you can just plough through everything with ease). Yanmega fits that description very well

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Rahiden [2012-05-15 07:07:22 +0000 UTC]

Ohh I see. So what kind of Pokemon are the "plough" kind of pokemon? From what I remember, if you start with the basic and train them, they evolve into their higher states and become more powerful, until they are a plough, but this can be done with just about any pokemon.

Rahiden In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2012-05-15 15:50:33 +0000 UTC]

In-game, yes, any PokΓ©mon (of a high level) can beat the game with ease - hell, a level 100 Rattata could get you through the Elite Four. I'm talking about the ones which people use competitively: the ones with incredibly high stats and powerful moves, like Mewtwo or Dragonite, to name a few.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Rahiden [2012-05-19 02:26:07 +0000 UTC]

Oooh. I think I get what you mean. You can battle other trainers online now can't you? Its not just "play the game by yourself against a computer" anymore right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rahiden In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2012-05-19 15:44:45 +0000 UTC]

Yep, everyone's battling each other online now - except for me, because my internet doesn't like Wi-fi. At least the computer's a better opponent now

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Rahiden [2012-05-19 17:32:47 +0000 UTC]

Oooh. I see. HAHA that sucks. So you're all by your lonesome. Do you like battling against a real person though, when you can?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rahiden In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2012-05-19 17:53:39 +0000 UTC]

If you'll allow me to be slightly arrogant... I battled two of my friends not so long ago, both of whom using 'strong' ones, and my team of well-built underdogs smashed through them with ease. I wish there was someone else who does 'fancy' training like I do, but I'd end up playing even more often than I do now, which isn't good for me

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Rahiden [2012-05-20 06:20:50 +0000 UTC]

HAHAH Yeah. How much MOCing time could you have if Pokemon didn't eat up your time? But that's cool I'd like a mixture of both I think. Cause in Pokemon gold I had a a bayleef that was well trained, as well as several others, but also had a lugia and some other rather powerful pokemon that if I didn't feel like wasting time on shit, I'd just plow through with them to. So I went for a mix I think. You'd have to sit down with me and show me exactly what you mean by "well trained underdog" though. Its been ages since I played a pokemon game. I'm so out of touch with it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rahiden In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2012-05-20 12:19:39 +0000 UTC]

My only consolation is that I only play PokΓ©mon when I don't feel like MOCing - maybe I'd be too tired, or didn't have long before I had to go somewhere. I wouldn't be able to explain all the details of fancy training in one sitting, though I guess the very basics of it is a new system of training called EV training: If you want your Pikachu to have a high speed stat, you make sure it battles PokΓ©mon with high speed stats (like Zubat). Meanwhile, if you don't EV train, your PokΓ©mon will get a mix of all six stats (HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Attack, Sp. Defense, Speed) so it won't be able to do its job to the greatest extent. Hopefully I'm using examples that you know

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Rahiden [2012-05-20 14:41:43 +0000 UTC]

Ah yeah. That makes sense. "got a half hour before I gotta go, guess I'll fire up the DS." Do you ever take it with you? Play while you're in the car or such?

Yeah. That also makes sense. Fighting a Pokemon that has fast attacks would make it learn fast attacks. So then its even more of a strategy game than before. Because you not only have to chose pokemon that can defeat your opponent, but you've got to pick the pokemon that you want to gain the kind of experience points that they'll get from that pokemon...right?

You know what I'd love to see? A pokemon game like that where its just the original 150, but with all the modern systems of training and what not. After the first 150, it just started going downhill I think. Maybe that's just me being a kid and watching the cartoons speaking. Maybe from a strictly game standpoint it wasn't like that.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rahiden In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2012-05-20 18:04:58 +0000 UTC]

Nah, the DS barely leaves my room these days. I don't want my parents to know I'm playing it this often, to be honest
And yep , got it in one. The training part is a long and dull process ("Oh damn, I can't let my Geodude kill this Trainer's Abra. *sigh* I guess I'll have to turn off and turn back on again...") but the benefits are incredible.
Hmm... the problem with that idea is that people have different opinions as to when it 'started going downhill'. A lot of people, like you, preferred Gen I, while others like Gen II, Gen III... then there's people like me, who just like the new stuff that Nintendo throws at us.

Oooooh. I see. You sneaks it. I gotcha.
I see. Cool. Well, it'd be interesting to get caught up on the pokemon games, but that'd require A Nintendo DS ands I's no gots teh monies fer one. And even if I did, there's much more important things to get. I just got a new bass amp as it is...Now to find a band to play in to justify getting it.
Yeah, everyone has a different opinion about it. I mean just the show really. I'm sure the games still kick ass. They must, cause they're still pretty popular.

I knew that, and honestly I can't figure out what sort of point I was trying to make by saying that :/ Never mind.

Speaking of PokeMOCs though, do you plan on making any more? That would be pretty cool.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rahiden In reply to st3vethesquid [2012-05-13 20:13:05 +0000 UTC]

I don't plan on making more, no; I'm trying not to build 'popular' things since people end up ignoring the build itself and give it far more attention than it deserves (see [link] ). I only built Yanmega because of a contest, but I guess if someone makes a request, I can hardly say no
