A 'create-a-castle' assignment for one of my classes. A sort of lonely desolate canyon hideaway.I'm sort of in love with this piece... The original sketch I had was a neat idea, but this freakin' blows it out of the water
Time spent: 40+ hours
Dimensions: 18x24 inches
Tools used: Graphite (4H-9B), kneaded eraser, pencil eraser

Excellent work...I love the scale you have accomplished in this piece...What i love most about it is the vastness of the whole structure...I kinda love insanely big buildings or huge environments that fade away into oblivion...

To me this is real art. Using pencil or pen is not something most people can work with...and get away with a mind blowing creation. Because that is what this is...mind blowing.
This has to be in my top five favorite art pieces on this entire site.
I love the angle, the vanishing point, the shadows, EVERYTHING.

This was like my first time working graphite at 18x24. It's way too big of a surface to work with a graphite pencil, and I'll hopefully never have to do it again. Thanks

Graphite is a killer... I work with mechanical pencils, and I can attest to how stupidly long it takes to get something down decent... But, I think graphite in general is an underappreciated medium... So, I like seeing it done well by other artistsβ¦
